We have to sell our DVC. We are trying to pay down our debt and decided that this is one thing we need to get rid of. Makes me so sad :( We are looking into the TTS , but is there any other place we should look into? Anyone else sell or buy resale, where did you go?

I'm sorry too!!! :worried: I hope you can buy into it again in the future!!!!

Thanks! This was a tough decission, but I think we will be happy in the end to get rid of the payment. We of course will still go to Disney, but probally look into renting points when we go.

Sorry you have to sell - but paying down debt is a very good reason.

You'll feel tons better when your debt is gone (or at a level that you find more comfortable than where it is now).

Hope you can buy in again when your financial situation is more to your liking -
Good luck!

You could rent out your points for a few years.

BTW, How many points will you be selling? There may be someone reading this board that will make you a deal.

so sorry to hear that....good luck with your finances!

we just bought a resale through Jaki Apetz....she was a great agent.

We just did the same thing for the same reason. It is really sad but in the end not having the payment will be better off. We sold it through the timeshare store this week very easy to do. Good luck

We bought through Jaki twice. I think the listings aren't "exclusive" but I wouldn't hesitate to use the TSS.

Good luck with your financial plans.

Sorry about this. This is the reason I tell people financing isn't the way to go. DVC is a luxury purchase and people find that out the hard way sometimes. Where do you own points, SSR? Our sponsor would be a good choice for your sale. Hope you won't lose too much. How many DVC trips did you get to enjoy? Who knows, your situation may change and you'll buy into a new DVC offering down the road. At least you aren't dumping off another timeshare. If you were you would have really taken a bath. DVC has held or increased it's value. With SSR you wil lose money now as the resort is still selling. Good luck to you.

I'm not worried about losing any money. We bought resale so we will just about break even. We did get a few good trips out of it, so I say in the end it was worth it! However, I think once we get rid of that monthly payment with dues we will be more ahead.

 Sorry to hear that you have to sell. It would be hard for me to get rid of ours. Hope things go well for you.

Thank you for all your pm's, however, I am only interested in finding a reputable time share resale company. I don’t know enough about private transactions to feel comfortable selling on my own.

Thank you for understanding!!

Good luck with everything.

Sorry about the need to sell. We have bought and sold with Pat at the Timeshare Store. I must admit that they continue to get my business and my referrals because they do a great job.

Good luck to you :)

All may not be lost...we had to sell a couple of years ago to be able to upgrade to our new house (which we love by the way) we had financed with Disney and I didn't want to sell, but when you want to move up from a 1300 sq. ft. home to a 1900+ one, and one of the only few things standing in your way is your once a year weekly vacation (monthly payment) it wasn't too hard of a decision. We listed it on Tug2.net (Timeshare Users website) with I believe a $10 registration fee you get a free classified ad. Disney ended up exercising their right of first refusal (I felt bad for the potential buyer) but the loan was paid off and we got $3,000 out of it to boot. Now, we are in a better financial position, about to consolidate with a home equity loan and are pondering buying resale with some of the H.E. loan. This is the house we want to stay in for quite a few years so we're seriously thinking about it. Whatever you decide, good luck!

That's strange. The ONLY thing a broker gives you is finding a buyer and the initial contract. And given that you will pay them $1000 min up to 12% of the transaction cost, you could potential come out with dollars in your pocket. You can still use a full service closing agent if you want to avoid any additional hassles. Now I'm sure some will offer you a lowball figure, but you have to do nothing but say no if the price is not what you are comfortable with.

I recently sold a DVC for 100 points. I paid 10% (with no $1,000 min, I only sold 100 points and the comission was less then $1000)

To me it was well worth it to pay someone to deal with inquires, etc. I am not a real estate agent and don't want to be one. I wouldn't sell my house myself and I wouldn't sell my DVC myself. I have watched posts on TUG I would say that I got as much paying the 10% as I would have gotten on my own and I spent none of my time on it. (And you do have to figure out the price of your time)

Sometimes we do have to bit the bullet!!! Sorry that you need to sell your DVC.....you may be able to rent points in the future and hopefully you may be able to buy again. You are responsible people and you know your priorities and that is a good thing. Good Luck!!!!!

Sorry to hear this...good luck in the future.
