No we don't have credit cards anymore. We cut them all up after we finally got out from under their noose.

We have a strict budget every month, and I had only anticipated having to put two hundred down as a deposit (my fault for not doing my homework!). We have the money coming in the next few months, but I really wanted to go ahead and book our trip, especially since our promo code expires March 31st!

I don't know if this was answered, but you will have to check out and check back in. Most likely you will have the same room but it is not guaranteed. We had to do this when we got a discount that started after our stay and we made 2 reservations. We were able to keep our room. And yes, we did have to make 2 deposits because they were 2 separate reservations but it was definitely worth it to get the discount. If you only pay one deposit, then check out at the end of your first stay, Disney has no way of holding you to that second reservation if you made no deposit.

Make sure to mention when checking in that you have have 2 reservations and to request that you want to keep the same room for your second stay.

Okay, I think I can swing the deposits for all three. Here's the problem, though. We want to do deluxe dining. Well, deluxe dining requires that you have a package, which means that you have to have at least a one day ticket. Does this mean that I will have to have separate tickets for each of the three reservations? That would be really costly because one day tickets aren't that much cheaper than four or five days! I knew we would have to get two sets of tickets because of splitting our stay between Pop and Contemp(we were going to get 8 day tix at Pop and then just a one day at Contemp.), but I wasn't anticipating having to get three sets!!! That is ridiculous! How has everyone else handled this?

Yes. Again, these promotions are not intended for how you're using them, so the procedures and rules don't necessarily track in your favor. This one requirement may be the determining factor in you electing NOT to take advantage of the Dining Plan.

Again, it is important to keep in mind that you're really doing something unusual, and not necessarily something the hotel has a vested interest in making easier, and so folks in your position generally compromise with regard to the various conflicting considerations.

Quite frankly, I personally would pick one resort, and not bother with the Dining Plan. Two deposits, and no ticket purchase requirement. That's nicely manageable. Actually, I'd probably decide to move my check-in date to the date the 40% off promotion begins... So that would be one deposit... and at that point, you could go back to the Dining Plan (if you want) since you'll have only one reservation.

Another option is to do a moderate if you can't afford to do a deluxe for your whole stay and also wait to check in at the start of the 40% discount. This way you would only have one stay, one deposit, one set of tickets and then can still get the dining plan.

Thanks for all of the input. I didn't realize when we decided to go before the promotion started that it would cause this much trouble! I thought they would just charge us the discounted price for those nights and the regular price for the other nights. I didn't realize it would have to be two separate reservations. We really want to take advantage of the deluxe dining, because we would normally never have the chance to eat like that. I guess we will probably just start the vacation on the 19th (when the promo starts) and maybe just pick one resort. Any suggestions on which one? If we choose contemporary we won't be able to stay as long as at Pop, but I've always dreamed of staying at the contemporary, so I don't know what to do.

I can't give you any suggestions as to which resort to stay at since I don't know your likes or dislikes. But DS and his family stayed at the Contemporary last September and absolutely loved this resort. Of course, DDIL picked this resort because she loved the way the rooms looked. I would probably stay at a monorail resort if you can swing it because of the proximity to the MK since you have a little one.

if so may i suggest doing POP 10/17-10/24 at the 40% of code rate = 1 200.00 deposit with the dining plan

those dinign plan credits would expire at MIDNIGHT on the 24th...

then possibly do the 24th and 25th room only at the deluxe resort+ you will have to pay one night slodging at your 40% off pin code

pay oop for meals on the 25th and 26th

flights tend to be cheaper at least here in NY on sundays vs saturdays

you will have to put down less intially for your trip

use the 25th and part of the 26th to utilize your resort perks and dtd and such thereby avoiding having to purchase additonal park tickets

or you coudl stay at POP the whole time
our family will be at POP 10/19-11/02
i intially wanted to do a split stay too but figured not this time, perhaps when i can get a couples only trip i will go to a deluxe with DH

What time are you getting in on your first day? Did you intend to go to a park? If not (and if so maybe you can rearrange your schedule) then book one night using your discount for room only at the Contemporary. Do not get park tickets for that night. Then enjoy the night at the Contemporary. Go swimming, have a nice dinner go to downtown Disney, check out the other resorts, watch the MK fireworks on the beach at the Poly or the 4th floor at the Contemporary or even do one of the dinner shows. When you check in request a late check out (I have been able at times to get a 1pm check out) then take your time that morning still enjoying the room and resort.

Make your second reservation using the 40% code for a package to include your dxdp. Book the Pop or maybe a Moderate. I know a lot love the PoR. Look at the pictures. The grounds seem very nice and relaxing.

Doing it this way you will still have 2 deposits. 1 night with tax for the Contemporary and $200 for your package. But by doing it this way you will get the best price on your tickets. You could just buy 8 day hoppers for you and your hubby. This would cost you $567 with tax. If you bought 1 day tickets with no hopping it would cost you $143. The cost of that 1 day ticket would be more than a nice dinner at a resort or a downtown Disney restaurant I would say unless you had your heart set at visiting the parks all 9 days then one day less isn't gonna make a difference.

That would be wonderful! That would solve everything! We would move our stay to checking in the 19th to avoid 3 reservations, (only 2 that way), and we wouldn't have to worry about ticket issues. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

What i personally would do is book my whole trip for the contemporary one deposit ...deluxe dining ...and call it a day and start the vacation the day u can use the code it just makes it so much easier

I'd stay at the CR for each night that I could get it with the discount. IMO, it's a waste to get a 40% off coupon and use it to book a value resort. The discount is so much more valuable if you use it to book a deluxe.

Since you don't have to pay for your package until 45 days out, I would do just the opposite. I would book the maximum amount of nights you may want to stay, and then if for some reason money is short, just cancel those days off the end of your stay. It is always easier to cancel days than add them, especially with discount codes that expire. They are based on availability and what is available now, won't necessarily be available later. Just make sure you do this prior to the 45 day mark.

Actually, this is not correct. Disney is allowing AP holders, who book a room-only to purchase the dining plan. There has to be at least one AP holder in the room. This is not for the general public.
AP holders were not happy that they could not book a room-only ressie, or an AP discounted room and not get the dining plan without purchasing any tickets, Disney is changing it for them.

This was going to be my suggestion to the OP. Have you considered getting an AP so you could purchase the dining plan without needing to buy tickets for each ressie? It could be worth it given the planned length of your stay and if there is any chance at all that you could get back for another visit before the end of one year.

An AP might also give you a discount on the room reservations you wanted that aren't covered under your 40% code.
