Have to get this off my chest, was I wrong?

I would have waited. Unless it was actually time to get on the ride, what's waiting a few more minutes really matter?

I would have waited a minute and avoided the remaining 20 minutes of awkwardness with that family in the line. You only got 1 family ahead in the line but paid a price by having your night ruined.

I don't think anyone could have anticipated the response they got. That was really over the top.

I generally wait for a short period of time, then go on; if it's a situation where they end up right behind me I let them go back to where they were since it makes no appreciable difference in when I get on the ride and it keeps things magical and friendly.

Lets use another analogy here. I was at McD's this morning getting my breakfast. I proceeded to the speaker and ordered. I then went ahead a bit but had not reached the first window to pay yet because there was a line. SO, I began counting my change. While counting, the car ahead had moved up leaving me room to get to the first payment window but was still not at the second window. The car behind me actually beeps. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous. The car in front of me had not even gotten to the pick up window yet. Should he have just gone around me? He really wasn't moving any quicker. He was just hurrying up to wait. Slow down and enjoy life people.

Maybe the guy behind you shouldn't have beeped, but the guy behind him, waiting to pull up to the ordering kiosk, sure would have been justified. While you're counting your change, nobody behind you can move, which means there's someone who could have been ordering but isn't.

Should I have waited while they finished their rather lengthy photo shoot? Really ruined the night for me. I suppose I should have just let her have her way but she made me sooo mad!!!!

Since you asked....

Yes, you should have waited, at least it would have been reasonable for you to do so. Provided of course that they weren't there so long that the people in front were getting to the line merge (where the glasses are given out).

That said, the other lady should have asked you if you wouldn't mind waiting just a minute while they snapped the last few photos, and then she should have thanked you profusely when you said "sure".

So while I think your best move would have been to wait it out, the other lady wasn't being courteous either.

And? What would ordering 15 seconds earlier have done?

OK, I just found this thread. I don't have time to read 19 pages, so I skipped from page 1 to 19.

Did I miss anything?

:lmao:

Miss anything ?

No.

Condensed version:

Like cutters are trying to explain why it's OK for them to cut in line.

Initiating confrontation, not really, if you, general you, take your time to move, you initiating negative reaction from others, so just be consiered for others an they will not bring negativity to you. you starting a chain reaction and it is up to you not to do it, remember you can only control yourself and you cannot expect anything from anyone.

Ummm what?!?

Well, for one thing, MdDs can get the orders together so they're ready when the cars pull up to the last window. For another, leaving empty space in the line has a domino effect on everybody behind you.

Basically, I think your analogy fails as to TSM because at McD's, your delay actually stops people from moving forward and increases their wait time, and many people have argued emphatically that that's not the case at TSM. To me, your situation is more akin to the people who feel the need to leave several car lengths between them and the car in front when they're stopped at a traffic light, heedless of the fact that by taking so much space, they're blocking people behind them from moving into the turn lanes. Yes, everybody will eventually get through the light in the same order, but several people may have to wait out a cycle if they can't fill the turn lane because someone else has left a large empty space in front.

I'm gonna call BS on this one. Ain't no way CMs would let this happen. And this from the poster who asked the question "exaggerate much" waaaay back in the thread.

I guess you don't have much of an "actual life" today, huh?

In all honesty, I don't think CMs really want to get involved in these types of things. I've seen too many situations when things did happen in line (like cutting) when the CMs saw what was happening, and did absolutely nothing about it.

Oh, it's definitely human nature to want to move, even if it's just to stop and stand still at a point 20 or so feet ahead. I feel it too. As someone said earlier in the thread, hurry up and wait!

I'm just saying it's polite to restrain that urge when it won't actually delay anyone from getting on the ride... which in the case of TSMM, it won't.

It's also polite when someone does want to stop in line to take photos, to tell others to go on around you. Either that or politely ask them if they mind waiting while you take pictures.

Since you asked....

And in that situation, I probably would wait, because the other woman was being polite.

There's at least one rule -- No cutting in line.

And if you agree that it is cutting to jump in front of somebody to fill a two foot gap between them and the next person in front of them, no matter the reason for the gap, I don't see the difference in jumping in front of them to fill a thirty foot gap, when their dalliance will not affect, in any way, the time you get on the ride (or, in TSM case, to the FP merge point).

Anyone have a photo to post of this rule... I've never seen it... clearly it isn't written in Portuguese as the Brazilian teen tours will swarm past you in a line like locus moving toward an crop of wheat.

Because it is one of the urban legends. Sign suppose to be somewhere as you just enter the property but nobody ever saw it and lived to tell the story.

There's no sign that you shouldn't defecate in the line entrance, either, but I'm pretty sure most people realize that's not allowed.

Ten more pages? Sounds like a lot, but I'm game...

If there were a no cutting in line "rule" -- I doubt the "rule" would include "you are required to wait behind someone who is not moving unless and until the waiting affects your ride time start, based on whatever criteria makes mathematical sense (to others) -- apparently the FP merge -- in which case you can go ahead...this includes you must wait several minutes, as long as you cannot prove the line wait has changed for you. And you must assume the person is aware of the rule, and knows when to move -- which will be before it affects your ride time start."

That can't be THE rule.

As some PPs said -- the far more likely rule is likely "keep up with the group in front of you." Or even "fill in all available space"

I've never actually looked for a sign that says "no line cutting", but I don't recall ever seeing one.

Let's hope! Thanks for ruining my appetite for lunch today, btw. :thumbsup2

Line-cutting is apparently subject to interpretation since there is so much arguing as to what actually constitutes it (as seen on this thread).

Defecating in line would be a clear-cut thing. You either do it or you don't.

Or -- those who think it's ok to hold up a line, trying to justify why that's ok.

It all depends on your perspective.
