Have to get this off my chest, was I wrong?

Didn't read the entire thread, but read similar ones in the past. Were you wrong? In a word yes. Only if their stopping would have affected your wait time (I did read far enough to see that it didn't) is it appropriate to pass them in line. Of course there is a point that they should move on, but it has more to do with giving someone else a chance to take pictures with Mr. Potato Head than moving up in a line only to wait again. That being said, I also think the other party overreacted as well. In the grand scheme of things it is not a big deal either way. This is just my opinion, but a little patience would have gone a long way. Admittedly, I may have on occasion suffered from a lack of patience as well. Sometimes things just irritate you even though you know they shouldn't.

Love the honesty in the last bit. Haven't we all? We're human... but yes, a little patience and courtesy will go a long way.

I made it to page 5 before the urge to  became unbearable. Man do people get worked up about the oddest things. My thoughts - If someone "taking to long" to take a picture or someone "cutting in line" in a situation similar to the OP is going to ruin your night, perhaps a beak or calling it an early night is a wise decision.

It seems that posters on both sides of the debate agree on one thing...a group in line passing or being passed by others (while taking photos) end up more or less in the same general area when they get to boarding TSM.

So what's the big deal? Why call out someone on vacation and have to get a CM involved? Did they really ruin your vacation? Was it necessary to ruin theirs so you would feel better?

I believe this is the real issue. Why the anger either way?

Well, that's not really the case. If the OP jumps in front of the picture takers, she *will* get to the FP merge place, and thus the ride, before the picture takers who were in front of her. So, her eagerness not to stand still for a moment longer than absolutely necessary has delayed the picture takers from the time they otherwise would have ridden. Worse, if the CM cuts off the standby line right after the OP goes through to let a huge group of FPs through, the picture takers have really been screwed because OP jumped in front of them. Note that in that case, if the OP doesn't jump in front of the picture takers, it would have been the OP who would have been stopped before the merge *regardless* of whether the picture takers took their pictures or not.

By the OP staying put, the line order is preserved, and no one gets anywhere a second later then they otherwise would have had the picture takers not taken the extra minute.

I think what you did was completely fine. Whenever I stop to take pictures I assume/expect that the people behind me will pass me. If someone stops to take pictures they are temporally stepping out of line and anyone should feel free to pass.

I would have done what you did and went on about my day HAPPY! She would have gotton over it lol
PS when I am the one going crazy with my photo's in line I tell others to go by....why do I have to keep the line from moving b/c I am the one wantting the photo's of my kids?

You people are willing to spoil at least one, if not two families' days (yours and theirs) stoking tempers, just so you can walk forward ten feet and stop, rather than wait where you are for a minute, then walk forward ten feet and stop?

Which is a fine argument when you're outside in the park but I reiterate: it is a LINE to get into a ride. And believe me, some people film their kids for twenty damn minutes in front of Mr. Potato Head.

Notice I'm not putting the blame on them. I think Disney needs to redesign this line as it is by far the worst thought-out one in the whole park. Take Mr. Potato Head out of the queue, put him someplace out of traffic, and a LOT of problems will be solved.

If you still disagree, why not stop dead in the last portion of a line that's winding out the door of the attraction and see for yourself how well people react.

I don't think you "get" the point of the queue. It's designed that way -- and Potato Head is there -- to make the wait more fun and more enjoyable.

Putting Potato Head elsewhere would defeat the purpose.

I've never seen anyone film for 20 minutes in front of Potato Head. His "act" is only a few minutes, and the he stops performing for a few minutes, which pretty much always gets people to move along.

Just because you've never seen it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. As I said in previous post, I actually saw a guy whip out a tripod, take the time to set it up and then proceed to take INDIVIDUAL pictures of each of his five kids. Mind you a CM was telling him to keep moving (you know that terse CM move along voice where they say it once and then ignore the situation totally thereafter). This moron totally ignored everyone around him - after all it was HIS vacation and that was HIS spot.

Should the entire line have just stood there and waited? And for the record, yes we did leave him and his brood standing there in all their Sears-pose glory. The CM at the FP merge couldn't have cared less what was going on behind her.

The fact that you can find the most extreme example doesn't justify stomping past everyone else in the more typical examples.

Or are you the type that starts honking the moment the light turns green, too?

I think it's rude when people stop to take pictures in a queue for several minutes and cause the line to back up. I would have gone around, simply because I don't like condoning that type of behavior. It's effectively saying to everyone else in line, "Hey, everybody wait on us because our pictures are more important than anything else you're doing."

In short, I don't think you did anything wrong. Sure you could have said something like, "Excuse me miss, the line has moved," but you probably would have met with the same reaction. For some people, the world truly revolves around them.

No need to stomp - an easy stride gets me past these folks just as easy. What you call an extreme example I call my perspective. You have yours and I have mine. Do with yours what you will and I will do the same.

And if you sit staring at the green light while everyone else is waiting to go then yes I will honk the horn (or just drive around you). Maybe you just like the pretty colors.

My tradition is to take a pic of my DD in the TSMM fastpass line, in front of the "L" block, since her name begins with L. I would never expect anyone behind me to wait for me. I tell the family to go to one side and we do the picture. The block is about halfway through so it's hit or miss that the line would be that far back anyway.

I'm still having a hard time understanding the logistics and time thing in the OPs example and the subsequent responses. So, Family A stops and takes photos for 3 minutes in front of Mr. PH. Everyone waits, then moves ahead to fill in the empty space. Would it have taken 3 minutes to move that far, or would it have been less time? If less, then the line HAS been held up for the difference in time between the regular line "shuffle" and the photo wait time. Let's say 1 minute for argument's sake. So, wouldn't it then logically mean that every 10 families that stop to take photos adds 10 extra minutes to the wait time? Wouldn't the person holding the "necklace" to time the wait be delayed by those people? So, if people scoot by, wouldn't we then save that extra 10 minutes overall?

I'm gonna call BS on this one. Ain't no way CMs would let this happen. And this from the poster who asked the question "exaggerate much" waaaay back in the thread.

I guess you don't have much of an "actual life" today, huh?

and what is typical example, how long is too long. why so extreme with stomping, just walk by, no need to color it so negative. Most people will stop with complete understanding that line keeps moving, quietly without stomping. actually this story is a complete shock to me, calling CM, trying to stop a child, dirty looks, why. sorry even with my angelic, when on vacation,:rolleyes1 attitue I would not be quiet.

Good to see another Jedi DIS'er doing the old, "You didn't see what you saw" mind trick. I could truly care less what you think. I'll still be smiling and walking right past these idiots. I look forward to seeing you in line.

How long is too long? Easy: If you can still see the party in front of the party that's stalled, it's not too long.

And when they move on, you don't have to rush right behind them just to breath down their necks... you can pause in front of Potato Head as well if you're so inclined.

It was put there for a reason. Slow down. Enjoy it. You'll still reach the ride at the same time you would have earlier... you'll just notice the time less if you're actually enjoying yourself in line.

To the contrary (that means opposite, by the way), you care very deeply. You keep responding.

But you keep hitting the gas so you can get to the red light quicker.

Blah, blah, blah...I'll still be walking right by you.

Nah. I think I found your line.
