Having my hip replaced tomorrow and they called today and changed my check in time from 8:00 in the morning to 5:30! :scared1: I was actually glad, might as well get up and get moving- why wait around. :confused3 Wish me luck, I'm scared out of my MIND!!

Good luck! At least with those early times you don't have to sit around all day being hungry.:banana::banana:

Best of luck!!

Are you going to have to go to a rehab after? Tough kind of surgery to have so close to the holidays, but I'm sure you'll be fine..:santa:

Good Luck! My former boss had both of his done. He went to DHMC, are you going to Maine Medical?

I will be going to my Mother's home after. She has a one story home and is an RN.

I am in the Bangor area.

The "nurse" (not sure if it was a nurse or not) who called was relieved when I was happy about the time. She said she usually gets yelled at when she gives the early times and the late times. Hey, someone has to be first, and someone has to be last! I'd rather be first!!

good luck. I had surgery today myself. Mine was outpatient. I look like frankenstein right now. Positive yhoughts for you

I don't know if these are equal, but my 82-year old mom had her knee replaced the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. She was "up and around" by that Friday. Or at least she was up and alert. I'm not sure how "around" she was. She said her knee feels 100% better.

Best wishes. I'm sure your surgery will be as successful as my mom's was!(grammatically incorrect, but I don't feel like writing out the correct version.)

Good Luck and prayers for you! I'd rather do the early time too.

Good luck to you. My friend had hers done and her life is so improved because of it.

I'll be thinking of you and sending you lots of well wishes for a speedy recovery!

Good luck and for safe measure on the hip you are not having replaced write with a sharpie - "It's the other one stupid!"

Not sure calling my surgeon "stupid" is the way I wanna go tomorrow! LOL He actually comes in before I'm medicated and puts his John Hancock on the joint he's operating on......... :woohoo:

Good luck. You will be fine.

I am a home care physical therapist. Today I did a start of care on an 80 year old woman who had her hip replaced on Friday December 4 and came home yesterday. She had very little pain and was walking great with her walker. The past few "hips" I've had have done extremely well.

Sending good thoughts for you as you go through this surgery. My sister just had her shoulder replaced a few weeks ago and is still facing hip replacement as well. Sending my best wishes for you! *hugs*

You may laugh at it but surgery on the wrong limb "routinely" occurs. A simple thing as identifying the correct limb by writing on it before surgery when the patient is awake goes a long way to avoiding "issues".

Yep - marking the site is actually required now for accreditation. It's a big deal. It does go a long way towards preventing "wrong site surgery." :thumbsup2

And speaking of which, I guess the OP is having her surgery right now! I'll say a prayer that everything's going well. :goodvibes

Hoping all went well.. Also glad to hear you will be able to recover at your mom's - rather than a rehab place..
