Have there been any movies filmed in your area??

Tons of movies have been filmed in the Chicago area, but Groundhog Day was filmed about 10 minutes from my house. Some friends and I would go and watch them film all the outdoor scenes in the "square". We actually saw Bill Murray and Andie McDowell a few times, and although we didn't get a chance to talk to them, they seemed very nice. They did speak to people in the crowd several times during takes.

The restaurant scene in "Mrs. Doubtfire" was filmed in downtown Danville! In fact, I think they used the real name of the restaurant: Bridges.

I got to see scenes from Road to Perdition filmed in Geneva, IL.

Specifially, the scenes that invloved bank robberies. :)

Yeah-I inspired a thread! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Places In the Heart (??) I think was filmed in and around Waxahachie, Texas, and a relative of Dateline's Stone Phillips was in that movie as an extra.

I don't have any.. but my brother's house in Baltimore was almost in The Replacements. They scouted it, and it was a final pick. Of course, they went with something else. That's about the closest I've come.

In Niagara Falls...parts of the Superman movie.

In Buffalo..."The Natural", and "Hide in Plain Sight" come to mind.
Unfortunately, the names of the stars escape me at the moment, ugh.

The Fraternity Life, and Sorority Life series that are airing on MTV now were filmed in the Buffalo/Niagara area late summer/early fall of 2002.

Some of the outdoor Campus Scenes from Back To School with Rodney Dangerfield were filmed nearby in Madison.

There were also scenes filmed in Madison and Devils Lake State Park for the movie I Love Trouble (I think that's the name) with Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte.

Star Wars
Scorpion King
The getaway
Stargate
Where in the Army now

There have been a lot of movies filmed in the Tampa Bay Area but two that I know were filmed very close to me are Edward Scissorhands and Ocean's Eleven (I think just parts of that one were filmed here though). Edward Scissorhands actually used a whole neighborhood about 5 minutes from where I used to live. Some people I know had their house featured in the movie. :)

Yep! There is a former marine base about 3/4 of a mile from my house. The hangars there have been used to film parts of Pearl Harbor and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. Scenes from The Haunting were filmed at an architecture firm in my town, Tustin. The Orange Traffic Circle has been used to film movies like That Thing You Do! and Clockstoppers, and also Orange was used to film parts of Big Momma's House, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and a lot of other movies. Scenes from The Fast and the Furious were filmed in Little Saigon. Legally Blonde and Evolution filmed at the old Santa Ana courthouse.

There have been tons of movies filmed in Orange County. And of course, if you go to the LA area, you will almost always see something filming if you drive around enough.

The most famous one would probably be "The Deer Hunter". Many scenes were filmed in this area. Also, "A Christmas Story" had parts filmed here.

The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia had a few parts in it from my home town. I remember when Mark Hamill and Kristy McNichol was coming to town. It was a very big deal in our town.:teeth: I think I was about 12 yo or so at the time.

Some scenes in Edward Scissorhands were filmed not a mile down the road from me at the grocery store where I do most of my shopping. And my sister actually got to see Johnny Depp. No fair.

Wishydoo, we also had parts of Planes, Trains and Automobiles filmed here. Scenes from the new Jim Carrey film that is not out yet "Bruce Almighty" was filmed here too. I was lucky enough to be in one of the crowd scenes at HSBC Arena for that one. There is also Manna from Heaven which is currently playing in select cities.

Parts of a Civil Action(John Travolta) were filmed here in Woburn. This is the city that the story was based on. :(

Flashdance, Gung Ho and The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh were all filmed by me when I lived there. The house of her ballet teacher was down the street from my mom.

The flight simulator scene from "Brainstorm" was filmed in the building right next door to where I worked at Northrop's facility in Hawthorne (California).

They filmed the TV program "Riptide" just down the beach from where I lived in Redondo Beach. I believe that the film "Surf Nazis Must Die" was filmed in Hermosa Beach while I lived there.

As far as I know, nothing has been filmed near any of my Ohio homesteads.

Since Tinkbell made some references to films made in Cleveland, I might add that "Welcome to Collinwood" and some exterior shots and one of the opening sequences for the Drew Carey show have been filmed in Cleveland. I also believe that some scenes from "Major League" might have been filmed in Cleveland.

There have been many movies filmed in Baltimore, which is not too far away.

Both Dave and Head of State have scenes that were filmed at Orioles Games at Camden Yards. DH and I were at both of those games. (So we were in the movie, you just can't see us.)

Most of Beloved with Whoopi Goldberg and Danny Glover was filmed in Fair Hill, Maryland, about 3 miles away. We went up there that summer and saw extras and animals they used, etc. The house stayed there for several years but was recently torn down. We could hike to it and took pictures of it.
