Have there been any movies filmed in your area??

Summer Catch had some scenes filmed here since it was based on the Cape Cod Baseball League and
Of course......

JAWS!!

I live in the Dallas area and many movies are filmed or made here.

Parts of the movie FireFox were filmed about 40 miles from my home town in Montana. The scenes of an airfield in Siberia ;) , they did have to ship in some snow though. There wasn't quite enough.

Another of my favorite places was in the film A River Runs though it. The camp we go to in the summer has a log bridge that was used for a scene and some of the surrounding mountains were also used. Robert Redford used one of the cabins for a little while as an office while filming.

There's actually been quite a few movies filmed around here.
Some examples are: Outside Providence, Something About Mary, Dumber and Dumber, and of course the tv show Providence.

***********--

Indeed the original Blob film was done in Downingtown. The diner is still there. I've never really eaten in there though. The former Gulf station across the street is now a water ice stand.

Yes, several and the latest one is Big Fish which I believe is wrapping up with filming. Of course we gave up a really big junior high building for them to use.:) (actually we had built another one):)

The Blob, Downingtown.. who would have known? I didn't know that..

I thought of another one.. Mannequin...

The beach scenes from ROAD TO PERDITION were filmed near here on Lake Michigan.

Also Jeff Daniels has his production company based in Jackson, MI (his hometown) an hour from us and he does a lot of his movies there.

A League of Their Own was filmed in the town's to the north and east of me. My neighbor and his son were extras in the baseball scenes. It was during the filming of this movie that Madonna complained that she couldn't get MTV in the house she was renting. It was the beginning of the phrase "I want my MTV!"

<A HREF="http://us.imdb.com/List?endings=on&&locations=Baton%20Rouge,%20Louisiana,%20USA&&heading=18;with+locations+including;Baton%20Rouge,%20Louisiana,%20USA">Movies filmed in Baton Rouge</A>

We have had several movies filmed in my town most recently a scene from Analyze That with Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal

Disney's The Jungle Book was filmed about 15 minutes away at Fall Creek Falls state park. The cast used to come to the restaurant that my mom worked at and eat breakfast every morning.

Parts of the movie, and alot of the shows ******* I live close to Downingtown, and have eaten in that diner where the blob was filmed. Nice, The blob and *******

A Thousand Acres with Jessica Lange, Michelle Pfeifer, and I can't remember the other lady was filmed between here and another town out in the country. The food in the scenes was prepared by a local restaurant here in town and they also catered for the set - the owner is also has kids in our school. It was said that Michelle Pfeifer was spotted jogging on a main road that people drive here to get to the university for work (people south of us) and that she was also spotted at our CornFest which was during the time the movie was being filmed.

The opening scene with the train going down the tracks in Curly Sue with Jim Belushi was filmed on the tracks that are just to the east of where I grew up in a town called Rollo - that was a big deal!!!

The HBO Movie Normal, which is playing now on HBO through the end of next week, I believe, starring Jessica Lange was filmed where my mom lived and out in the campground at the local State Park where we camp every year. It was also shot in other areas of the surrounding countryside and counties. I can't wait to see it.

Twister
We got to see some of the outdoor scenes being filmed. It was sort of fun to watch the movie later and try to pick out what we had seen.

Dumb and Dumber we filmed in and around Boulder County. I have some friend who are extras. The Shining was filmed in Estes Park, about 30 miles from here. They used the Stanley Hotel, it's supposed to be haunted. There's another one that was filmed near Mead, a town not far from here, but I can't remember the name of it.

The movie Prancer was filmed about 30 minutes west of me! I still love this movie!! If you are ever in the area, you have got to stop at Drier's Meat Market (from the movie) ~ their stuff is "outstanding"!! This is our only "claim to fame" around here!

"Snow Day" was set in Syracuse, but the November that they filmed, Syracuse was short on snow. (Whodathunkit?) So it was filmed in Canada.

Most recently "About Schmidt" was filmed all over Omaha. I actually got to see Jack at the Dairy Queen by my office.
Before that was "Election" with Reese Witherspoon which (in my opinion) was a terrible movie, but filmed in Omaha! :D

Living in NYC, yes, there are lots of movies filmed in my area, but also on my street. First two that come to mind are "US Marshalls" and "The Peacemaker". Last Sunday night they were filming "Spiderman II". They're coming back again on Monday.

There's lots of filming done too where I work. Usually the trucks are parked in front of the building. Saw J Lo last summer on a pay phone believe it or not!
