Have questions about booking our 2nd cruise ... Castaway club, requests, etc???

Got off the ship yesterday .. and looking for dates for the next one.

We will go cheaper this time .. as we didn't really use the Verandah all that much and I'd rather have the $$ to spend elsewhere.

Ok .. questions

#1 - What do Castaway club members get?

#2 - How far in advance do you have to book the secret porthole rooms and how can you find out if one is left BEFORE you book a cruise?

#3 - Can you request a specific server for dinner? When we go back, if your server is still there ... we would like, if possible to have him again.

I can answer question #1.

Castaway Club members get a free gift in their stateroom (ours was a duffle bag with DCl logo) and an invitation to the returning cruiser's party (free drinks and appetizers!). Also, if you book a return cruise within 60 days (maybe 90?) of sailing and sail within 18 months of your last trip, you will get a stateroom credit. The amount varies based on length of trip and stateroom category. There is also a special line at the port for Castaway Club members to check in, but that line is usually longer than most of the others, so I always just go to one of the standard lines.

As far as question #3, you can probably request the same server, but I don't know if that means you will actually get him/her. My guess would be that, like all dining requests, they will try to accomodate you, but can't guarantee it.

I have booked within these guidelines for cruise #4, and am not getting the stateroom credit. I was told by 3 different people (2 DCL employees, and my travel agent) that DCL is only doing that if you book on board for your next cruise. I did get the credit this year for cruise #3, but am not counting on it at all for the next one.

If anyone knows different, please let me know, and I will pursue this further.
