Have info about Marathon Sunday early entry

I just got info on another board about marathon Sunday. The early entry is NOT Magic Kingdom, it is going to be Animal Kingdom. Early entry on Monday (day after) will be MK.

What is marathon Sunday?

It is an annual race where thousands of people come to DW and race throughout the parks. It starts very early in the morning on Jan. 11th and ends about noon.

It starts at 6 am at EPCOT. It will finish at MK for the half and EPCOT for the full. The runners have be completed by 1 pm or they will be picked up. I think they have to maintain a 16 minute mile or be driven to the finish line.

We arn't running, but would like to be in the MK to cheer on the runners. Does anyone know what time we could get into the MK??

Wow I never knew about this. I bet this is a lot of fun if you are a runner.

it is awesome fun! I ran it in 2002.
you can get into MK to cheer on the runners, you can get a schedule of when runners will be going through MK, it is about the 10 mile marker, so about 1 - 1.5 hrs after the start, runners are going down main street! my dh was standing there in front of casey's corner to cheer me on, ofcourse he almost didnt see me becasue he was too busy taking pics of chip n dale running..

Last year I went into MK early, before the scheduled opening. They were allowing anyone in, without even checking passes.
I had MK to MYSELF. A few runners were going through. But I was out numbered by CM's, and more so the further back I went.

If you click on the link that I provided it is the schedule of when parks will be open for the runners. I think MK is open at 7 to let people in to cheer and then you have to leave at 8:55. I'll be somewhere on the course working the race I'll find out where on Jan 3 when I go to the team leader meeting. I wish everybody the best of luck.

Just going by memory -- I think I arrived just shortly before MK officially opened. I didn't arrive very early as I did not know they were letting guests in.
We have AP's, so no big deal for us. But I was surprised they were just letting guests wander in. I even said something to one of the CM's out front about scanning my pass. She just waved me in.
Then Main Street was dead. I wandered around -- alone. (What a feeling.)
I went back to Liberty Square and it was roped off around there and runners were going through. Yep -- I cheered them on. Then wandered some more until HM opened.
Rode this and that -- and had the place to MYSELF. I even had a Private Pirate Cruise.
Then I left to meet DH at the finish line. It was quite an experience for me at the MK! Felt like they were just open for me!
