Have a heart!

Ok I must say I've been in both situations late arrivals (not for a long time) and 5 hour spot savers.
Last year we held a spot for 5 hours on a Bench for my family we never saw the fw sadly but we also saw the parade from a different angle and it was good.

uering our wait time one family came to stand near us and because I was in a wheel chair at the time I was ok giving part my bench to a grandmother and her granddaughter. The others came an joined them but they did not push us or try to take a bench seat we were nice we gave what we didnt need to an elderly women and a child. We made friends and told the mom where cap was and thor. She in return told us when she came back Cap was a 5 mins wait. so I shooed my family to get cap. It was the last thing on the list we needed to get done.

Any ways we all had a nice view the family and us talked and made friends while there.

If you want to see a show of any kind at least put 2 hours out to hold a spot. so if a show is 20 mins tell your self it will take 2 in half hours to see this show is it worth it. If not go ride rides or what not. seeing the later shows will also help with some wait times.

I too am 5'1 and know if I want to see I must spend the time waiting or pay for the view. I can not chance it that I walk up last min and get a good view. I know how I feel around crowds I know I need my room. I know what my needs for my family are so I cut the nights off from 5pm on don't plan rides, don't plan a big dinner. That way what ever night time show we want to see we can spend time seeing.

While I was waiting for the parade last week the people next to me gave away their FPs. I gave them glow bracelets that I had in my bag. A few weeks ago a woman on the tram handed me a pin and said happy trading. I paid it forward a few days later by giving a kid an old autograph book I had from the outlet while waiting in line for Mickey.

But this started as a vent thread, so it makes sense that there are negative experiences shared.

Ahhh! That reminds me of one of the sweetest moments we had in the parks! (Work with me here- SMD said "glow bracelets", which makes me think of ravers, which makes me think of T Party, which reminded me...)
Year before last, when my daughter was four, we were in the pin shop in Frontierland, when some adorable young adults came in, clearly dressed for Mad T Party, decked out in day-glo colors, day-glo hair and rocking arms full of day-glo bracelets. Anyway- they were trying to shop, but my daughter was following them around, completely captivated by one of the young women, calling her "Pretty Pretty!" and admiring everything from her orange and pink hair to her lime green tutu. The young lady bent down, took a bracelet off her arm (calling it friendship candy or something) and gave it to my little girl, who immediately took off a Minnie Mouse bracelet to gift in return...and the whole group got excited and told her she'd just done her first friendship trade. It was the cutest, sweetest, kindest thing, EVER, and my daughter still has- and wears- that bracelet :)

:tinker:
Does anyone have a story about when someone was nice to them? Or went out of their way for you?
On our wdw trip this year, we did walk by the parade area around 2:45 for the Festival of Fantasy parade at 3 (it starts in frontierland, and we were looking for spots in the hub). I happened to see enough space directly behind a stroller for me to stand(family was on the ground on either side and in front of the stroller), right in front of the taped off walkway. There was enough space between the tape and the stroller for just me to stand. I asked the family if they were using that space for anyone, and they said no. It was the perfect spot! I wasn't blocking anyone behind me, I wasn't bothering or horning in on anyone in front of me..and I had a great view of the floats coming around the Hub with the castle behind them. It was definitely a magical moment, and I really appreciate that family allowing me to stand in that spot!

I've never had any rude experiences at DL but a few years ago in WDW we were waiting for rope drop at Magic Kingdom. There was a woman with two older kids with her and I was standing behind her with my son who was maybe 9 at the time. He dropped a pen for autographs and it rolled in front of the woman. I went to pick the pen up and she accused me of trying to cut in front of them. Now mind you we were still in the front of the park waiting for the characters to come by on the railroad and the rope drop ceremonies to begin. Even if I had been trying to move in front of her, it would have put me two steps ahead of her with a whole walk down main street ahead of us and then to whatever land we were going to. I told her I wasn't cutting in front of her, I was just picking up my son's pen, but she got very confrontational, to the point where a man I'd never seen before got tried to put himself between us so she couldn't come near me or my son. And then of course once we could go after rope drop, her kids weren't moving as fast as she wanted and she was yelling at them while my son and I walked past her and on our way. For good experiences, a few years back my son wanted a Mickey ice cream sandwich. When I went to pay for it, the CM told my son it was a present and to enjoy. :) And in February we went to Universal Orlando and had two front of the line passes. We were only there for the morning and before we left we watched the people entering the park and I saw a young couple and offered them the passes and they were gobsmacked. I loved the looks on their faces.
