Just saw Disney's Haunted Mansion at an early screening last night and loved it.

And I couldn't help but think with the movie being set in the New Orleans area and the mansion clearly based on the DL version, this might have been a good year to take a break from the "holiday" themeing and just let it be. Granted, part of that is because I'm extra sad it'll be closed for the overlay when I'm there. But that overlay doesn't fit in with the just-released movie and it seems like they'd WANT to capitalize on a new release.

Oh well. I don't get to make those decisions. :(

It is July and they are already selling Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise!

It is currently the featured merchandise both in the parks and at World of Disney.

Yes, I know I'm in the minority. I don't get the obsession with that movie. I'll turn the channel if it comes on.
I'm with you. I don't get the obsession. That said, I prefer the holiday version of HM over the regular version.

You don't have to be obsessed with a movie to enjoy a ride. I've only seen the first Star Wars movie, and Rise is one of my favorite rides. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time this year. I enjoy the attraction and figured it might be more enjoyable if I actually understood the story behind it. 🤣

If the movie was a big hit, I wouldn't mind if they "movied it up" like they did Pirates. I do enjoy the overlay, but honestly I think it's time for Jack to have his own fully featured attraction. I think it would be very popular.

Apparently they haven't learned their lesson from pushing some IPs too hard for too long.

I'm fine with the Nightmare overlay but it really needs to start Nov 1 considering the inside of the Haunted Mansion becomes Christmas themed. This is why we'll always go solidly in the summer so we can get the original Haunted Mansion. One of the best experiences we had at WDW was doing the Halloween party and going to the Haunted Mansion for a few rides late at night.

We're going to see the movie on Saturday.

I hear you, but if they started it on November 1, it'd be closed over Halloween, which would be bad. I think I'd be okay if it was like October 1 to December 31 - I do think it's a little too much.

I'm going to see the movie tomorrow! I do think timing is a little weird. It gives them only a small window to really captialize on the original HM before the switch. I personally will always love the original, and am a little bummed we wont see it on our trip in October. But as long as some version of HM is open while we're there, I'll be happy haha.

How was it compared to the 2003 version? Is it a sequel, or a whole other story?

That's a good idea. Or even Oct 10. I feel bad for people expecting to ride HM over the summer but it's down in August.

I've never been that into Nightmare Before Christmas, so I could really take or leave the overlay.
