I went to see the Haunted Mansion movie yesterday. Awesome! It was so funny! I loved the Barber Shop Quartet in the cemetery. The story was ok. The movie was just like riding the ride at WDW. If you're missing Disney, go to this movie.

I know others who didn't enjoy it and compare it to POTC BUT I LOVED IT!!!!

It was a great Disney fix and now I can't wait to ride HM next week!!!!!!!!

I hope it does very well and it CERTAINLY was better than the Country Bears Jamboree movie!;)

really? It seemed to me from the trailers that it wouldnt be as good as i hoped...

although i thought the same about Pirates and i saw that like 6 times!

We saw it opening night. I also thought that it was good (it was not Pirates of the Caribbean "I want to see that again right now" good, but it was good). I enjoyed the singing busts and the daughter (she was hysterical). I thought the story line was OK, there was so much potential that I thought it missed out a little bit, but would definetyl recommend the movie to anyone. It was funny and a really good get away. A little intense for the younger kids (they left the theater crying during one scene) but good for the older kids.

I think we will enjoy it and give us a Disney fix we need to make it til we leave for Disney World.::yes:: :wave2:

we got a sitter, we made the trek to the theatre today...AND BOTH SHOWS AROUND 2PM WERE SOLD OUT!

i didn't want to see anything else so dh and i had lunch and shopped for a bit (not wanting to waste a sitter ;) )

we're going to give it another go on sunday ::yes:: this haunted mansion fan is on a mission!

Make sure you sit through all the credits because there's a familiar Madame Leota scene at the end!

Thanks for the warning on the credits. I need a reason to make my kids sit through the credits, if I can guarantee them there is something afterward!

I've been afraid to see this since I love the ride so much and I was afraid they would screw it up, but you guys have given me courage!

Thanks for the credits tip!

And don't forget that PotC comes out on video and DVD on Tuesday, Dec 2. Can't wait to see that movie again. I enjoyed HM-TM.

I didn't think this movie looked good, but I wanted to see it because you know it's Disney, and HM is like my favorite ride. But how much it seems you guys liked it ... I want to see it. Hopefully I'll get to see it next weekend or something.

DW & I are going to see it this afternoon (11/29). I'll try to come back & give my two cents. :scared1:

Can you enjoy the movie without ever going in the ride? We haven't done the ride yet, because we thought it was to scary for the kids. Will we be able to floow the movie? How scary is the ride?

no, you wouldn't have to go on the ride to understand the movie. I think the movie has some scarier parts than the ride. The ride is dark but I suppose it would depend on the ages of your kids as to whether they thought it was scary. I think once they get out of the stretching room, which is the pre-ride area they will be fine. The film is rated PG and has some 4 letter words (my son counted 4) probably d/t Eddie Murphy and there were a few scenes that made you "jump".

We just got back from our trip to WDW, today. We saw HM movie at DtD, the day after we went on the ride... I think the movie was much more enjoyable having the ride fresh in our minds.

If you don't know the HM ride, I'm sure most of the visual humor in the movie would be meaningless. Honestly, if was not an oscar winner... but we had fun.

We (DH, 16yo son, and myself) saw the movie yesterday. It helped us get even more excited about our upcoming trip to WDW.

I thought the movie was lots scarier than the ride. I don't like dead bodies and skeletons...

I guess DH and I are in the minority...We didn't like it. Saw it on opening night and it was so much less than we expected. Loved POFTC! My 6 1/2 year old grandaughter's comment, "Grandma that wasn't scary, that was dumb!" And we really wanted to like it!

I'm also in the minority...I didn't like it. My kids thought it was somewhat funny (11, 7 and my 14 yrold nephew). The only good parts for me were being able to identify things from the ride that were in the movie.

We won't be a minority for much longer -- another vote no on the HM movie. Really poor narrative, nothing to compare to PoC, which is what we were hoping for. Pointing out all the similarities to the ride was the high point for us, too.

Was there a story line? I was so busy looking for all the familiar props, scenes, music and backgrounds, I probably missed half of it.

We loved the movie but have to admit it was special to us because we enjoy the ride so much.

Thanks for the tip about the credits. We were the only ones in a large, crowded theater who bothered to stay.
