Haunted Mansion storyline?

i have heard that walt himself is buried in the hm. does anyone know if there is any truth to this? :confused3

I'll have to look for the book. My library has a pretty good travel section so hopefully it'll be there.

I have heard Walt's body/head had been frozen, but that they were actually stored under POC in DLR because that was his favorite ride. I don't really believe it personally but I thought it would be worth it to get a little more info out on the subject:rotfl:

One thing I learned recently that I had never noticed before:

In the attic scene, watch the changing portraits of the bride and groom. The bride gains another pearl necklace after each groom loses his head - I guess she was killing them and taking the money!

I :lovestruc Haunted Mansion! It my family's favorite ride :) I love the trivia about the chess pieces at the top!

What about the windows though? Outside you can see a special window and also inside. I wonder why those were emphasized?

I need to dig through that excellent website. I'd been there before a long time ago but I don't remember if it said anything about that.

Not to hijack the thread but I have a question about HM at DL Paris. I saw a video of the entire ride and there are major differences. Not to mention way scarier. There definately seems to be a story there. Does anyone know that story?

Phantom Manor surprised me because it is actually part of Frontierland, and the storyline takes place there.

You can find the storyline here:

I didn't really enjoy the ride as much as HM, but I think the storyline is very cool.

I've never been on the ride, but the storyline is really neat.

I wish there was one for HM, it would make it a bit more fun to follow.

Not gonna lie, Phantom Manor is the entire reason I want to go to Paris. :rolleyes1

I also want to go to Disneyland, not just to ride Haunted Mansion but that's one thing I want to do. Absolutely everyone keeps telling me not to bother, that the one at WDW is better but darnit they are different (even if just a little) and that's the point! Actually by now I'm so used to the Disneyland HM soundtrack that it's going to be strange riding the WDW one and the audio track being different even though that's the only one I've ever been on.

which brings attention to something else unique about Haunted Mansion: with every park it's in, it's in a different land.

I like to think of it as being a long layered history that's all "true".
After all, how many haunted houses have you ever heard of where only one thing went wrong in it's history?

YES - this!!!

I train new CMs at the MK and we spend quite a bit of time on the Haunted Mansion. We encourage the CMs to make up their own stories when talking with Guests. The idea is like a campfire, everyone tells it different.

That's really cool!!! I've always been kinda freaked out in that room :rotfl2:so I havn't looked around to much but I'll have to watch for that

I'm not sure I know what window(s) you're talking about. Maybe you could find a picture or something? Haha sorry now I'm just interested because I've never noticed a window before and I'm also wondering if it's meant to add something.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'd like the story as much. It just seems to cliche haunted house. It deffinetly looks scarier though, it's not as whimsical (not that HM is exactly a joy ride either for some people:rotfl:)

When you exit, turn around and look at the building. There is a window there that looks different. Also when your doom buggy turns around and goes backward down the ramp, look to the right and you'll see a window.

That's kinda weird!!! :rotfl2:I'll have to look for it. Has anyone else seen it before?
