A few yrs ago, someone wrote stories on this board. They wrote stories of the characters in the mansion. It has been around 4 yrs. They were wonderful, I was telling a good friend about them, but i can not locate them, I was wondering if anyone knew what ever happened to them. Thanks

Now I am truly frightened. I just posted about this story in another thread just about 20 min ago!

Note to self: remove stretching room from travel plan for next visit.

While I know this isn't what you meant, I have a funny real life story about the HM.

We were on our way to a cruise (non-Disney) leaving out of Cape Canaveral, so we had decided to do a one day Magic Kingdom excursion for the day before we left on the cruise. We were in the process of selling our house and moving so we had a framed picture of a cruise ship on the floor. Since some character in "Bear and the Big Blue House" would jump into pictures, and magically appear on them, our oldest (almost 5) decided to jump into this framed cruise ship picture, as he was really eager to go on the cruise. Well, it ended up that he cut his leg fairly severely and needed 13 stitches two days before we went to MK. We still go ahead with our trip to MK, renting a stroller for our hurt almost 5 yr old, and our 3 yr old, and our first ride is the Haunted Mansion. Due to the leg, and this being our first ride in Disney, my youngest son and I end up about 3 doom buggies down from my wife and my oldest. My oldest gets off of the doom buggy at the end, and sees the next two doom buggies empty. He remembers hearing the warning that not all will make it to the end of the ride, so here he is, with 13 stitches in his leg, and he's lost his dad and little brother. By the time we get off, he's almost in tears, but all is well. However, the next trip to MK, it took us a while to get him into the HM.

DoomBuggies.com is the unofficial HM site, and they have many tales that are supposedly true told by guests and CM about the ride. Many CMs swear that this ride is actually haunted.

... my DSis & I were on the HM in DL years ago (when we were in college). When we came into a room on our doom buggy, we noticed a character there that we had never seen before. I mentioned that out loud, and suddenly -- the CM jumped out of his chair and said, "BOO!"

We almost pee'd our pants! :rotfl:

Weeeell... I don't know about that, but I do know that about ten years ago or so, several HM CMs got together and wrote up a bunch of UN-OFFICIAL biographies for the Mansion's more visible Happy Haunts.

They called it "The Ghostly Gallery".

Buzz Litebeer, I love your posts. I am so glad that you joined the Dis. :welcome:

I actually look for your posts when going through a thread! :teeth:

This isn't a story about a character's background, but is one about the creation of the characters. It's from a great book we bought at WDW on the making of the Mansions and the Eddie Murphy movie about the attraction. I don't have it with me at the moment, and it's been a while since I read it, so some of the details may be off, but the gist is as follows: When the guys were designing the characters (I assume for the original at DL), they had a large room where they could test the animatronics. Evidently they had a lot of animatronics set up. At night, they'd shut off the lights and head home. One morning, they found a note requesting that the lights be left on because the cleaning crew was really freaked out by the place in the dark (I'm guessing the switch wasn't right next to the door). So, they decided to pull a prank and set it up where the lights were out and the switch would activate the animatronics. When they arrived the next day, they were told they'd have to clean the rooms themselves from now on because the night crew wasn't setting foot in there again!
