I've had a sneaking suspicion that the "correct" door, tends to be one that you do NOT teleport to by going through another door. In other words, you know how when you go through a "wrong" door, and then come out another door? I don't think that the door you come out of seems to ever be the "correct one", so you don't need to go back through it, to test it.

I will second this theory from my own experience . And here's another little tip -- to avoid getting ghosted... Usually your own color moves away from you -- so, if you see your opponent going for their color ghost and there happen to be a few of your own color ghosts nearby, follow close behind your opponent -- your color ghosts will not run away as fast .

I don't really have a strategy - I use my mouse and just click like a crazy woman

I think with this game, you really need practice. I remember when I first started playing ghosts, some stranger actually stopped in the middle of the game to type out, "Pink, you really stink! Please leave!" ROFL!!!

Bring it Pink, anytime!! Jewel kicked my shiney hiney all over the mansion last week, but I am getting better.

Last week I was playing against a bunch of other players and I did the knock knock thing on a whim, and everyone answered "Who's there". It was so funny, but it can actually be a good strategy to distract someone. Get it ready in your text field and when you approach a bunch of your ghosts and the other team hit enter. You can clean up and hopefully get them as well. I usually pull it off when there are at least two opponents. I was trying it all day yesterday, and will do some more research today...

Each of the major VMK games has a subtextual theme.
For Pirates, it's "geometry can help you destroy others."
For Cruise, it's "guns don't shoot animals, cameras do."
For Fireworks, it's "ooohh, pretty lights; ouch, carpal tunnel."
And for Mansion, it's "embrace death."

Thus, I find your Taoist mansion philosophy intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

I do have to say that if you want to be better at Mansion, don't talk. So no knock knock jokes It's amusing to crack jokes with friends, but it slows the game down A LOT, if there's too much text on the screen it'll cover up where the ghosts are/where you are and in general... more dc's. I'm usually a pretty quiet player and I tend to get a lot of ghosts because of it. If I'm goofing off with friends, then it's another story lol. Once I was playing with this really chatty boy who was not my friend --- man, he would not stop! He actually said: "You're really quiet!" lol At which point, I took the 5 seconds to stop creaming him to say: "And you talk enough for the both of us!" lol

I think if you want to be good, too, you should try to play with players who have a similar style as you. I don't care so much about winning as getting mad credits, so if I turn into a ghost, I will float over to my opponent to get changed back. There are lots of people who don't like being changed back for competition reasons (yes, it can give you the winner's edge in a really close game) but you'll lose those credits you could have gotten from getting an extra ghost or two

I am down with that. I have been practicing typing and using my joystick at the same time for the past day. It's a coordination thing. I aint got none. Plus I knew it was you and that you had probably read this thread. I was bummed you didnt razz me back or at least fall for it...

TODAY I was playing two on two and my partner types BRB, I was like WHAT? and he stopped playing. He moved his guy from time to time, but we got housed in two rounds (which kills me because I am after the credits).

I do have another tip when playing one on one. Today I let most of my opponents take the first round (keeping it close) and it seemed to keep more of them in the game! Kind of a bait thing, but it keeps them from quiting because they lost the first round. Not sure about the ethics on that, thought I would try it. At least I now know that many people bail on purpose if they loose the first round. Scientific approach.

If I have time on Thursday I am going to reveal my cool hardware mod that really makes Mansion fun and easier on the fingers/wrist.

I just saw this... I doubt pink has yet though... I'm not sure if she is familiar with your reference...

As for my averages there are a couple variables:
How good are your opponents.. I have played 1 on 2 where I have still cleaned all the ghosts up and had to wait... but assuming they 3 rounds 1 on 2 you should be able to get close to or over 100. Most I have gotten is 115 or so. (not including getting other players)

1 on 3 since you have to let the other team win to get to the next round. I have only done this once or twice and would be surprised if you could get much more than you can 1 on 2. Its not as if more ghosts come out with 3 vs two. Again it depends on the quality of players. Most of your scoring would likely come from getting them which of course does not get you any credits.
