My DN (5yrs.) is "Haunted Mansion Crazy" ! ! He has yet to visit WDW and has only seen the movie, and he wants to know everything about the ride!

Once he found out we were going to see Mickey Mouse, he specifically asked me to take pictures of the "outside of the mansion, the singing statues and anythingelse that is in the movie".

I would like to send him a Haunted Mansion postcard and collect some HM Pressed Pennies and/or Pins (if there is such a thing) for him.

So...does anyone know if there are Pressed Penny machines that have the Haunted Mansion on them??

Where would I buy a Postcard or Pin of the Haunted Mansion??

Thanks for your response!:wave2:

you are married to grumpy too? Wow - that man gets around.

;)

anyway - there is a cart on your RIGHT as you enter the line for the Haunted Mansion - tee shirts/pins/most likely post cards too, can be found there. If not - I'm sure you'll find SOMETHING with the HM on it in one of the gift shops. (Trust me - Disney knows how to merchaindise!)

Now - I suggest taking pictures of the funny tombstones in the garden leading UP to the HM...(read them - you'll understand what I mean) I don't know if you can take pictures DURING the ride - even if you could, I bet they'd come out blurry/dark just becuase it's so dark in there. But I guess you could try.

have fun!

edited because I don't know my left from my right!

Thanks stinkerbelle ~

Yes, I am married to Grumpy too! DH was offended at first when he learned of my board name, but now he "Happily" excepts it.:p
He sometimes will have a WDW question and ask me to ask the "Wife of Grumpy Disney Friends".

I'll look for the cart at HM and that is a good idea to take pictures of the tombstones!

Thanks again

OH! My DS5 is also a HM freak. He rode it on his first trip when he was 3 and has to ride it every time we go back! Anyway, you must visit the HM movie set at MGM Studios. You can't take pictures inside and they do rush you through, but there are some good photo ops outside. They have a huge gate that says Haunted Mansion Movie and also a big crypt. There is dead foliage all around. We got some great pictures of my DS next to all of this while we waited to go in. The set is right down from the Little Mermaid Show and the entrance is right next to the One Man's Dream exhibit.

Let you child check out www.doombuggies.com also (with your help and guidance, of course.) He can hear the music from the ride and see pictures there.

You will not be able to take flash photography inside. The ghost host specifically says, "Oh, and no flash photography, please, we ghosts are frightened. . " or something like that. But I have videod the whole ride (without back lighting) most of it is completely dark.

This past trip in December we bought DS a new CD off the cart that we hadn't seen before - it has the ENTIRE ride soundtrack and also even has outtakes of the different ghost hosts and snippets of the ride in other countries. We love to listen to it.

Have fun!

don't forget to look at: the last tombstone going in, with Madame Leota, her eyes open and are green, the icon of Donald Duck in the chair at the entrance of the long haunted hall, all the tombstones in the Pet Cemetery on your left as you exit, the hearse, and look for the ring in the walk at the exit(I have never found it, but they say it's there)

while there over the Christmas holidays, my daughter bought a copy of the book by Jason Surrell about the HM and the making of the movie and had Jason, himself write a personal note to me and autograph it to me! I love this ride! so that was a special present. happy haunting!

You might want to check the Yankee Tradder shop outside the Haunted Mansion. It's on the left after you exit the Mansion. When I was there lat month it was full of Haunted Mansion merchendise as well as Nightmare Before Christmas merchendise.

How long will the Haunted Mansion set be at MGM? Can you also purchase HM merchandise at MGM? :bounce:

If you have been looking all this time for a ring that acutally resembles a REAL wedding ring, well then no wonder you havent found it. Last january, 10 of scoured the grounds outside of the ride when we exited. We looked for about 15 minutes and NONE of us could find anything. I was looking for something like a piece of costume jewelry that was cemented into the ground like the jewels around the Aladdin ride. Well, we finally asked a CM if she knew where the ring was, and she takes us back to where you walk out in to the open once you exit and points to this brass looking circular thing in the ground. I swear its as big as the top of an eraser, maybe a BIT bigger, but not much. Its just a plain, brass colored 'ring' of metal. WHat it LOOKS like to me is that there was once a gate there of some sort, and a slim pole went into the ground there to latch it shut. It doesnt look like a ring you would wear at all. You probably saw this thing before and just thought it couldnt be it!!! there are pictures somewhere on the web of that ring!!! I will have to see if I can find them!
