This is a weird question but, my daughter is terrified of spiders and has never ridden the Haunted Mansion at DL. We are going over Halloween and she is a big fan of Nightmare Before Christmas and wants to attempt to ride it with the overlay. Question is- does anyone know if they cover up the spider scene with the overlay? I know it's right after the ballroom scene before you enter Madame Leota's room. Can anyone confirm or deny? We aren't going until Oct 29, so if anyone is going soon and can come back and let me know for sure I would appreciate it!

Madame Leota's room is the room before the ballroom scene.

The only spider in DLR's HM that I'm aware of is the one that is covering the bullet hole in the glass towards the end of the ballroom scene. It's normal sized and intended to blend in to hide the hole. You blink and you miss it. But no, it does not get covered up with the overlay.

A quick Google search shows there used to be a man eating spider scene in WDW's version, but comments indicate it was removed years ago from WDW. This did not ever exist in the DLR version.

Yes, this is correct. The giant spiders became the M.C. Escher style staircase scene at MK. They do still have the spiders at Tokyo Disneyland.
