Haunted Mansion Holidays Question

My fiance has always wanted to see Haunted Mansion Holidays at DL-- he thinks he heard that '09 would be the last year. Is this true/confirmed? Anyone have any info?

There were some wondering if they'd have HMH this year, but it's on the website that they'll have it, so...

Wow...I haven't heard anything about that, but it would be a shame if they stopped doing it. I didn't like the movie at all, but I really like Haunted Mansion Holiday. Sounds like a good excuse to plan a trip to Disneyland this year - "just in case!"

Oh good-- I was hoping that wasn't confirmed and just a rumor.

We are trying to decide whether to go to DL this year or next. I would hate to make him miss HMH forever.

I was one of the ones wondering/speculating IF there would be a HMH this year, only due to the 40th anniversary of the original HM ride and the events surrounding it. However, as soon as Bumbershoot said she had seen the HMH referenced on the DLR website, I figured they would go ahead and do it this year after all. I, for one, am thrilled if they do it. I think it is an exciting way to infuse a different kind of energy into an existing classic ride and make it like a totally different ride for a few months. I had not heard anything about it possibly being the last year for HMH. I hope that is not true. I know that originally, in its inception, the HMH was not supposed to be a yearly thing. I think it was only planned for one year or maybe two years. But because it was/is such a big hit with the crowds, it was brought back by popular demand.

I know there are many people who don't like HMH and prefer the original HM, and then there are those of us in the 'we love HMH' camp. Either way you feel about it, I think there is no denying the fact that HMH draws in a lot of extra people to DLR during what used to be considered the 'slow' season. Last year, there were unprecedented crowds attending DLR in October - to the point where the CMs didn't know how to deal with it. They have begin to make a much bigger deal around Halloweentime at DLR, and that is largely due to the popularity and the novelty of the HMH, which is kind of their signature attraction for the Halloween season. So just from a business standpoint alone, I think it would be a mistake for DLR to stop doing the HMH unless they are planning to revamp another ride in a Halloween motif in its place. Not everyone goes to the Trick or Treat Party, and so without the HMH, you basically have a giant Mickey pumpkin, a giant Candy Corn and some artfully carved Disney character jack-o-lanterns here and there. The HMH is more of a must-see event to celebrate the season.

I told DH about this thread and he had a mini panic attack lol

He made the point that Sherry did. It draws in a big crowd..it's the main reason we'd consider going at Christmas again.
