My parents are going to Disneyland and don't really understand VQ. Can I, at home, log into their account and get them a VQ? They are there the weekend Tiana's opens so could I theoretically get them a VQ for that from home as well?
A few reactions, partially in case somebody can correct me on any of this:
1) Assuming Tiana's is using a VQ opening weekend: you'll likely only be able to enter one VQ at a time. So, for example, if they jump in the VQ for HMH at 7am, they won't be able to enter the VQ for Tiana's until after they're called to ride HMH. (I don't believe they have to have ridden the ride yet - I think they just have to have been called.)
2) Just for clarity from the wording - you'll have to use the app for this.
I'm assuming logging into their account on your app should work. The other option is to scan their tickets into your app, if you can. DLR doesn't have stuff tied to users the way that WDW does.
3) Assuming you have their tickets in your app - you should be able to book their 12pm VQ yourself as long as they've entered the park before then. The app's only going to care that the ticket has entered the park - it's not going to know that you're not there.
4) Compared to the ROTR era, it does function a bit differently, but it might even be a little bit more straightforward. It's basically just a series of confirmations.
5) My one personal reaction - depending on how often they go to DLR, I might gently suggest holding off until later in the weekend to try Tiana's, just to make sure it's operating well. If you look at the news stories for Tiana's at WDW, it was an operational nightmare all summer - a
lot of downtime, and people having to spend an extended amount of time in the queue, often to have the queue cleared when it couldn't reopen. Hopefully, Disney took note of what happened and fixed those issues - but I'd hate for your parents to go through that if there's anything close to a repeat at DLR.
