Does anyone know if they will have the transformation of haunted mansion done when I go to Disney world on October 19. My daughter would love to see this.

Awe shucks, my daughter is not happy. Although she has never been on haunted mansion at all, I was hoping for something special.

HM is my favorite attraction anywhere as-is and without the JS overlay. It's pretty darn special. Sounds like you've already set her up to be disappointed in it, and that saddens me.

I like HM, but for people with smaller kids, the HM overlay makes it a bit more palatable and not as scary. I would not take my 5 year old on HM without the overlay, but she LOVED it with. That's a bit sad that HM in WDW doesn't do the overlay, it is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season

But the Haunted Mansion is special. I love the DL overlay, but I would never think that the HH in WDW is sub par. I think that your DD may be in for a world of disappointment if there is a predetermined definition of "special". I am not trying to be disrespectful, but one of teh problems with a Disney vacation is that there is already a hightened sense of anticipation, so if those expectations are ramped up even more, it is possible the trip itself will be a letdown.

My DD is the reverse--loves HM but NBC freaks her out.

The reason WDW does not do the overlay and DLR does is because of the different demographics they serve. Additionally, the NBC overlay takes weeks to install and remove, during which HM is closed. Since DLR serves more locals, it makes more sense to do there.

I couldn't have said it better...

There are 6 hidden Jacks throughout the attraction. Unfortunately, only 2 are easy to see, the others require the use of camera flashes (which is no bueno). Maybe you can help her focus on looking for the 2 - one is in the library and the other in the attic (actually, there's 3 in the attic, maybe she'll see more than just 1!).

Ooh I didn't know that, I'm going to have to see if I can spot them next time!

Cool, I didn't know that! Not gonna lie- HM creeps me out a little. (I don't like scary movies at all- even disney-fied haunted mansion lol) but I love NBC so maybe I can talk myself into going to look for jack ha!

No I haven't she just loves jack and she was the one who found out about the attraction decorations not me. She'll love it the way it is but I think she just wAnted to see him "come alive"

Alright then. Encourage her then to keep an open mind and also to look for Jack where Berlioz mentioned. (I didn't know about that myself.) It really is a very well-done ride. :thumbsup2

By the way for all of u saying I have set her up to be dissapionted. She is 21 and capable of understanding. We've been to Disney 2 times in the last two years. She just never did HM for some reason. And this trip is special in itself because we are doing a mother daughter trip with out her six siblings.

I am glad they don't do it..I love the HM as is , I am not a huge fan of Nightmare before Christmas, I like it , but in order to put up that decor they shut down the HM a few weeks before to set it all up and then a few weeks after the holidays to take it down, that would not go well with WDW visitors .DL can get away with it since they see more local and repeat visitors ..

I am super glad that they do NOT do this at Disney World. Haunted Mansion is by far my favorite attraction at the World. I would hate to see it "spoiled" by NBC (which I do not enjoy at all).

^^^ This.

First time I went to DL they had the overlay up and I won't lie, I was disappointed. I had wanted to see how the DL version compared to the WDW version and it was all yucked up with Nightmare stuff.
