Hated to do it, but had to cancel today

After ten loyal years, my husband lost his job so our Aug. visit it out:sad:

Optimistically, we're hoping he finds something soon and we can still go during the kids Christmas holiday break. Not too keen about paying holiday rates, but we've done holiday once and it was probably our favorite trip of the 7 we've done.

Maybe...there will be more discounts during holiday to lure bookings.

Now all that is left to do is for Disney to add insult to injury and send me one of those elusive pin codes for August. :rolleyes2

That really stinks!! I hope you dh finds something quick! We haven't had to cancel a trip due to unemployment, but had to belt tighten on our WDW honeymoon. 3 days into it we got the call dh's office shut down out of the blue overnight. :scared1: Since the trip & dining were paid for that was great, it was all the extra's we had planned that we skipped. Talk about putting a damper on a joyous occasion.:)

Good Luck to you!

To OP sorry about your DH losing his job :( Hope he finds something quick.

To other poster you will still enjoy your honeymoon even better since it is paid for & there are many more trips to Disney to make. :tink: pixiedust:

I just wanted say I am sorry to the op. My husband lost his job last August literally as we drove under the Walt Disney world sign his phone rang and he was let go!! I checked in to the boarwalk with tears rolling down my cheeks. It took 6 months to get a new job but we pulled together and made it through. I will think good thoughts for you and your family.:wizard:

Sorry, your hubby lost his job! I hope he finds something quick~ Enjoy your summer..and look at the bright side..there is more time to anticipate your upcoming trip in December! Good luck! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry about your DH's job. I'm sure he'll find one better! We were in the same boat in April and my DH had 4 job offers within 2 weeks! Hang in there, I know it's tough.

Oh my Gosh! I can't even imagine. I thought getting fired by email was pretty low. How did you ever wait out the 6 months?? We're both climbing the walls and it's only been 2 weeks.

I should say that fortunately as Chrisitans we've put it all in God's hands and trust that he is leading us on this journey with better plans in store for us.

Oh my Gosh! I can't even imagine. I thought getting fired by email was pretty low.

Another example of heartless corporate America, with no regard for the workers.

I was let go while donating blood at the company-sponsored blood drive... "Uh, when you're done bleeding, can you come to the conference room for a minute...?"

Ironically, that company no longer exists. I wonder why...

I can't even imagine the devistation...

My dad came pretty close (Steel Workers Union almost went on Strike) recently and that seriously scared me, not just for our WDW trip but everything!

The only kind of depression I can relate to is being at Disney World and getting a call from my english teacher saying I wasn't going to pass his class right as the Epcot Illuminations Show started. I had to sit out away from the crowds so I could hear him and try and explain to him that I HAD turned in the final paper... It was very stressful on the entire rest of the trip plus I missed my one chance to see illuminations! *Sigh*

So... my advice to you is to when you DO get to go, block it out of your mind, do NOT leave your cell phones on, don't answer e-mails... let your trip to the world become un-interupted. Deal with the REAL world when you get back to it.

Otherwise the real world tends to try and destroy your joy. Not magical at all.

I'm so sorry that your DH lost his job. You have a wonderful outlook and you are right by putting your situation in God's hands. His plans are always so much better than ours. I will keep you in my prayers that your DH will find something soon. I hope you will get to go to WDW in December.

My DH also lost his job...worked the month of May and still hasn't been paid for it...his boss didn't tell him until DH asked where his check was after it had been 4 days since payday. DH still thinks that he will be paid for it but I have my doubts. Anyway this past week DH started working contract for a company that will hopefully be able to hire him full time soon. We have also put this in God's hands and we know everything will work out the way it should. I was about to put a deposit down on a Dec trip myself but that is on hold for now.
