So I finally broke down and tried Wen cleansing shampoo and I love it. I bought it from QVC and just tried it for the first time today and my hair looks fabulous. I have fine, thin hair and today it is full and feels great. I once tried a cheaper brand from Sally's Beauty but it didn't give me hair like this. I might have to make this a splurge in my beauty routine. Ugh.

I want to check this stuff out...looks like there is no shampoo that you just use conditioner. So you don't wash your hair with any shampoo?

I have used WEN for years now. I get it from QVC. A few times a year they usually have a Today's Special Value with 5 Bottles of it for like $75. So, it's only $15 a bottle instead of $28. I then lock it in under Auto Delivery and it gets delivered every 6 months or so for the same price. ( you can change to have it delivered earlier or later or skip a shipment). So, if you like watch for the WEN Shows or sign up to get notifications when WEN is on so you won't miss it.

If you take into account that you wont have to buy shampoo & conditioner, and maybe even other hair products, it might not be so bad :goodvibes

I do agree, I have my idea on a camera bag/purse and its definitely more than I budgeted for.

I tried REN, that was on sale at the grocery. It's packaged similarly to WEN and says the same things about the product that WEN does. However, I came away feeling like my head needed to be washed. The hair didn't look too bad but my head felt greasy all day to me.

Those of you that use WEN, do you have oily hair?

I have oily hair and just recently started using Wen. Although the thought of not using shampoo grosses me out because I usually have to shampoo twice and then condition same with my 9 year old DD. So we shampoo once and then Wen. It's not really in my budget so I think I will just have my DD use it. She has long straight/curly at the ends hair that is very thick and every day she gets this huge knot at the back of her neck. The Wen really helps with that and she says it makes her hair feel a lot softer. Luckily I have a stepmother who works at QVC and she can get the 5 bottles for $50 otherwise I wouldn't pay that much for hair products! We also don't use the recommended amount of "pumps" either. I only use about 5 on DD hair and it comes to the middle of her back.

The one bad thing about this - is you actually have to use more product than you normally would. So, in this case less is not good.

I am not familiar with WEN, but if it's a no-shampoo method, you can try other cheaper options. If you want to do a no-poo method, read the forums at naturallycurly.com (and you don't have to be curly). You can co-wash (conditioner-only wash) with drugstore conditioners as long as they don't have sulfates or silicones. Suave Naturals run about $1 for a big bottle and smell great. Some of the key items are to remove any silicones first with a clarifying sulfate shampoo and not use silicones afterwards or they will build up. Then, when you wash with conditioner, scrub good with the pads of your fingers for at least a minutes. The friction combined with the water and cleansing properties of conditioner will get your scalp clean enough. Some co-washers use shampoo on occasion.

My DD14 had an oily scalp. I got her the shampoo for oily hair to try to keep it at bay. When I found out about the Curly Girl method, I didn't know if my kids would scrub enough to co-wash, so we went with lo-poo- sulfate free shampoo. Ever since we stopped stripping DD's scalp with the harsh stuff, she hasn't had oily scalp.

We use Loreal's sulfate free line. The new EverCurl smells the best. About $7/bottle. Then the kids use some Suave Naturals as a leave-in. I have co-washed occasionally with Suave Naturals or Tresemme Naturals.

That's the whole point of living below your means, though. It means you can afford to splurge on the things that make you truly happy!

ENJOY your treat as a reward for a job well done! :thumbsup2
