Has your Amazon Prime shipping really slowed?

I have had no issues at all. Even if it gets dropped off with my post office. Well, except for once, but that was 100% my carriers fault and in NO way could Amazon have expected it to happen (I set up to have my mail forwarded when I move March 21... my carrier stopped delivering my mail by their OWN decision the day after I made the request. I even had the head person at the local office peeved off at the guy since he obviously doesn't know how to read or do his job).

In fact, I am expecting a movie to come tomorrow (Saturday) that shipped yesterday.

We just bought Prime before Thanksgiving. It's about a 50/50 chance that we receive the order within two days. I was hoping the video streaming might make up the cost but there are better choices on hulu for free so will not be renewing in November.

I just returned some thing and the return shipping was free.

Amazon's policy is you pay return shipping unless the item is defective or they made a mistake:

I have had a number of delays in Prime shipping for items ordered from Amazon (not marketplace sellers); mostly due to the weather this winter.

My main complaint with their shipping is that twice in the past few months I have paid for guaranteed Saturday delivery and neither time received the item until the next week (and there were no weather problems). This was very annoying, because they were items I needed that day and I would have purchased locally if I had known they would not arrive on time.

I also dislike SmartPost, where the item is shipped via UPS or FedEx, but then transferred to the local post office for delivery. This always slows delivery by at least a day.

You can, and should, get a free month's extension on your prime if it is not delivered on time per this page on their website:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=201117450

I screen shot the page that I am ordering from (the one that says "if ordered within the next X number of minutes/hours, delivery guaranteed on X date").

If it's not here, I live chat with them, and have never failed to get recompense. Now, I'm not selfish, and can understand if there's been a huge snowstorm or something, but if the order page gives an exact delivery date, gosh darn it, I want it by that date!

Thanks for the link; I always request a refund of any expedited shipping costs when the item isn't delivered on time, but wasn't aware of that policy.

Thanks for posting this! I have never even complained but I think I will next time it happens. It's just happened too many times to keep letting it go.

I think the problem is that a lot of other sellers are now offering free shipping which gets lumped in with prime even though it's stuff not coming from amazon.

I ordered a pair of shoes in one size on Wed evening. Decided Thurs morning that I wanted a different size. Cancelled the first (which didn't work). I got the second pair I ordered TODAY but still not the first which will need to be returned.

I read stories in the press last month about Amazon losing money due to all the small orders going out via 2 days shipping with Prime and that the cost might be raised as high as $119/year. My last order was turned over to the USPS for delivery and took 4 days. I am actually fine with the slower shipping as long as its still free and they keep the cost of Amazon Prime at $79/year.

I have a Kindle Fire and do a lot of streaming

I just received an email about the increase to $99, effective in 2015. I use Amazon Prime for streaming movies & tv on a daily basis, so $8.25/month is still less than cable. I have not had any problems w/ slow shipping, but I am new to amazon the past year or two, so I guess I am just used to it not being applicable on the weekend. I always get it in 1 or 2 days during the week.

Dear {cglaura},

We are writing to provide you advance notice that the price of your Prime membership will be increasing in 2015. Your 2014 annual renewal will remain at the original price of $79. On April 13, 2015, your membership will renew at $99/year.

Even as fuel and transportation costs have increased, the price of Prime has remained the same for nine years. Since 2005, the number of items eligible for unlimited free Two-Day Shipping has grown from one million to over 20 million. We also added unlimited access to over 40,000 movies and TV episodes with Prime Instant Video and a selection of over 500,000 books to borrow from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library.

For more information about your Prime membership, visit our Prime membership page.

Sincerely,

The Amazon Prime Team

I got the email too. I'll be renewing in July.

I just got the email this morning...mine is going up May 2014. No advanced year notice for me.

I'm not sure that I've used the shipping enough over the past year to warrant renewing it at the higher price. In the past, yes, but I just don't shop as much as I used to.

DS and I have started watching some show on prime recently though, so we'll have to give that some thought before May.

Got email this morning that my prime is going up to 99.00 at my renewal in January 2015. I am not sure I will renew as we watch Netflix for the most part and we do not do that much shopping. I am not happy about the increase.

My increase is in April 2015 but I was already contemplating cancelling mine since I haven't used it as much as anticipated when I signed up. I have never watched the movies or used the books and only use it for free shipping. I think I'm cancelling mine this April instead of waiting.

It is a 25% increase. Not exactly a small increase.

However, it has not had an increase since it started in 2005. So break that increase up over the years, like you would MOST things, and then the increase really is logical.

I got 2 ironic emails today too...first from Amazon telling me the rates will be 99 per year, then a comment from this thread....;) kind of funny..... not sure what I'll do yet, I use the shipping a lot,I may revert to my old pattern of just ordering when I had enough for free.... I don't think 99 is over high, and I order quite a bit....but not sure it's in my budget right now....my ds does like some of their shows they offer, over Netflix, so there is that (Spongebob anyone?)

I got the price increase e-mail today too. Just renewed for another year on February 21 so timing was pretty good for me. I do use the streaming as well as the free 2 day shipping

My price increase is Nov 2014. That sealed the deal for me, I will not renew. I do not use their streaming and many times items I order total over $35 anyway.

I understand they need to increase and we have been lucky that it has remained the same forever. I won't be renewing mine in Oct because its just not worth it for me anymore. The only reason I renewed it then was because I got a deal on it for $59. We don't use the streaming service, and the add-ons and changes to when I receive my items have made it so I don't order from them as much as I used too.
