Has this happened to you?

I have a Canon DSLR Rebel and it started showing black across the bottom two thirds of the picture. The top third shows the image but the bottom is all black. Would love some input if this has happened to you and what was wrong with your camera.

Your shutter is going bad. Time for a new camera.

Does this problem only happen with flash?

This problem can happen if you manually set the shutter speed higher than the flash X-sync speed, which is 1/200 on Rebel XT and XTi.

I have tried different settings with and without the flash on and it does the same thing every time.

How many clicks on it? Could be a sign of shutter failure...
