Has this cold and miserable winter encouraged anyone to move to Florida

You know it's funny....I always said NO WAY WOULD I MOVE TO FLORIDA!!!!
Things have CHANGED! I'm sick of winter, sick of mud, sick of salt crap on my van, sick of shoveling, scraping and BOOTS!!
Me and DH were talking the other day and we made a "5year plan" that's when my oldest will graduate high school and I will be free to move (EXDH won't "allow" it now) Then it's Florida Baby! :smooth:
We looked into the Winter Garden area when we were last down to the Mouse House and the houses were nice. Right now in NJ we are up the wazoo with taxes and insurance and it's just getting too expensive. We even checked on the WDW website for jobs in DH's field and there are lots!!
As for bugs and snakes....I'm born and raised in the country....bugs..snakes...critters of all shapes and sizes are here.
Another big plus is that Northern money goes alot farther down there then it does up here.
Jersey...a great place to visit but I don't want to live here anymore!!!!

DH and I have been saying the F word a lot this winter, FLORIDA!
I don't have to get up at 4:00 AM to shovel humidity. So maybe in about 4 or 5 years we can make the move.

Perfect timing for this thread! My fiancee just got a job offer in the West Palm area on Friday so in 45 days we will be leaving cold, icy, snowy CT for Florida. I am actually very scared since I have lived here all of my 25 years, but I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to not having to hide out on the weekends bc it is too cold out!

Wish me luck please, I keep telling myself this is a good thing but I sure am nervous!

My DH and I had this discussion a year ago but I told him I didn't know about the summer. (We have only been to Florida in November, December, January, & March). So, we went for 3 weeks last summer. June 25th thru July 17th. The days we spent in the Keys were wonderful but, we spent most of the time in the Orlando area. I hated it. I will never complain about the humidity in Kansas ever again. Our DD made the comment towards the end of our stay "Isn't there ever a breeze in this state?". Don't get me wrong. I love summer and prefer summer, but not in Florida. Maybe Arizona should be an option for me.

My hubby has always said we were going to Florida. He's all for a houseboat. I always said no way!! Huh uh!! Not me!! Now 13 years of marriage later and I'm the one telling him to find a job down there so we can move. I think I can put up with anything just so long as I don't have to see so much snow and ice each year. If I get homesick I can always visit. That way I don't have to shovel too much.:teeth:
