Has there ever been...

discussions of DISboards meets? I mean localized "get-togethers" of Dis members where they could share experiences, stories, or just put a face to the names of people on the boards...

This is a very social place and, even though I know it is the age of "pretend" Facebook friends, actual gatherings seems a natural progression....

These groups could also be very helpful to "newbies"..though I don't know how the logistics of any of this would be worked out...

anyhow, it was just a small thought from my small brain........

My last cruise meet group had several pre cruise meetings. One was at Knoebels Grove in PA for a fun day together the summer prior to our cruise. We had a great time that day.

To the best of my knowledge I live at least several hundred miles from my closest "cruise mate" for my next cruise. I have heard of people who arrive a day or two early for their cruise getting together for dinner as a Pre-meet.

I met up with one person and her daughter so our kids could connect pre cruise because we were local to each other. Others loved in other states so that made it hard.

our group is so quite, having a hard time getting them to connect even on dis boards any suggestions ,have suggested dinning together on board , meeting for lunch day befor cruise, fe, meet and greet on board.

First cruise, we did an excursion and met someone from Rochester, Ny which is where we flew out of for the best price. The Rochester couple flew out of Buffalo.

Same cruise, last day I'm sitting by the pool, strike up a conversation with the guy next to me, find out he lives 20 miles away from me!

I MEANT to say : meets not related to specific cruises...that is not a meet with your specific cruise meet buddies....

just general social get-togethers on a regional basis.....

I misunderstood your mention of Dis meets......soooooo, that makes me a sloppy readers AND not an original thinker. Pretty impressive record for one thread, huh?

Aside from the cruise meet groups, there have been DIS meets at WDW in various places. We attended one in 2006 at Jelly Rolls.
