Anyone used Photo Pass yet? I think it was supposed to roll out over Thanksgiving.

I haven't heard about this. Someone want to clue me in to what this is? TIA!

This should serve as an explanation. It comes from Magical Mountain.

(Disney Travel Company) Beginning Dec. 1, guestswill be able to skip photo-pickup lines throughout property thanks to Disney's PhotoPass, a new online service that allows guests to view, share and order photographs of their Walt Disney World experience. Photographers will be located in all four theme parks to take pictures of guests who will then receive a Disney's Photopass card with a unique 16-digit number they can use to access their photos online at www.DisneyPhotoPass.com. There is no limit to how many cards guests can collect, as photos can be consolidated on the web site. Guests can use one PhotoPass for their entire vacation or get a new PhotoPass each time they have a photo taken.

Although Disney's PhotoPass replaces the existing photo system at the Walt Disney World. Resort, guests will still be able to view and buy vacation photos at Disney Photo Centers throughout property.

At DisneyPhotoPass.com, guests can also add decorative borders and other Disney-themed elements to their pictures. There is no charge for obtaining a PhotoPass, viewing or sharing photos online. The cost of ordering prints from DisneyPhotoPass.com is comparable to the cost of buying the same photo at a Disney Photo Center.

 I thought this was about annual passes!!
I thought they were bringing photocard APs like at DLP :earboy2:

Hope it works better than the current system. In October, they "lost" mine and several other's pictures from Al's Toy Barn. They weren't really lost - they just wouldn't come up with the card we were handed. The CMs were really nice about, but we basically had to look through about 300 pictures to find ours. We were all trying to remember who was standing around us trying to narrow it down. After about 30 minutes, after standing in the 30 minute line, we found ours - and of course, didn't like the way they turned out. Should have known - DH was none too happy because the bus line was now enormously long. Oh well, live and learn!

They had it in place for our trip. We were there Nov. 11 - 19. We never used the same card. Every photographer just handed us a new one whenever they took a picture. I guess they did it that way because it was so new. They never mentioned the online viewing though. They did tell us that the picture would only be available for 3 days.

Seems like it would be great if it works.

I will post my experience with it when we get back.

I don't think that this was PhotoPass. It just sounds like the regular park photographers. Can someone else say for sure?

Ali

As I understand it, the photographers and equipment will, at least for the time being, be largely the same. The new difference is that with the card, you'll be able to view your photos online.

That being said, I've seen job postings for park photographers, so Disney may be adding more or replacing some photographers. (The current photographers actually work for Kodak, not Disney)

Oh, I didn't mean that PhotoPass would involve new photographers. I was replying to someone's who says they had PhotoPass in place in mid-November. I was saying that this was probably just the regular program that has been in place all along and not PhotoPass.

PhotoPass may very well involve new photographers, but I don't know this for sure. What I do know for sure is that the system that was described from a Mid-November trip was the pre-existing system, and was not the new PhotoPass system.

The new PhotoPass system may be very similar in the parks, but I would imagine they'd get new cards with the PhotoPass URL on them to give out, instead of the ones they're currently using.

Just wanted to let you all know that the Photopass site us up and running, and that it seems to be working fine. We were there from Nov 19 to the 25th and has some photos taken, and when I logged on, they were all there. You can add borders or captions, and order prints right from the site. It's pretty cool. And so much easier that standing in line.

Does anyone know how long you have to order them before they dissapear ?

16 days and counting :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

According to the FAQ:

Storage Policy

Photos linked to a Disney's PhotoPass I.D. will be available online the morning after the photos were taken. Guests must claim photos within 30 days from when the photos were taken. Once photos are claimed and associated to a DisneyPhotoPass.com account, they will be available for viewing, sharing and purchasing for 60 days from which the account was created. Photos that have been claimed will be deleted from DisneyPhotoPass.com after 60 days.

I am totally excited for this service. Last year our pictures got damaged on the trip home, this will be so much better!
