I read in another thread that someone just bought in through Disney for 100 points. I asked here about it and she said they have lowered the buy in to as little as 50 points???

Any thoughts?

That is what is being said and others here have also said they got in for that. There are not any incentives associated with the buy in, but for someone who wants to test the waters and go direct, it is an easy way! And, depending on what resort you want, the cost may not be that much more than resale and you have points within days and not 4 - 6 weeks!

Good luck!!!

We were told the minimum buy in 2 weeks ago was 100 points. However he mentioned points going up July 1st so I don't know if the buy in went down again. The way he talked the 100 point buy in was relatively new. We did get some incentives (well what I consider incentives) we got 2009 points and no closing costs. So we start out our contract with 200 points essentially to use this year.
For us the 100 point buy in was a great way to get started. We want to go every other year for 5-7 nights and during cheaper seasons the 100 points is enough for us. That is until we get add on itis, I have heard it is very contagious. I would like to add some in the future but for our budget this works well for now. Oh and for my husband who does not want to go to Disney every year.

I have seen any articles that indicate Disney has reduced the initial buy in to 50 for all of their resorts. I too saw a thread where people were reporting the 50 point minimum.

It would never hurt to contact a DVC guide to get a quote. Our guide mentioned that there was going to be a price increase in July (exact date of increase unknown) but my DH and I can't agree on what he said except that the $90 offer at SSR was going up to $95 per point for both an initial purchase or an add on.
