Has "Preferred Firework Viewing" been replaces by FP+?

I've read in other places to keep pushing Disney for this - it's not a Magical extra anymore but if it was when you booked and is on your invoice, push for it. They have to honour something that was offered at the time of your booking.

I will be pushing for it to save a FP+ option

I'll give them another call tomorrow when I'm at work (our landline is broken at the moment... stupid BT)

Called back today. Fireworks options was gone from the menu but went to booking details, and explained what I wanted. She said it was FP+ only but put me through to reservations to talk to them.

Lady on reservations was super helpful, said of course it would be honoured as it was on my booking, and booked them for us. Hooray!

That's great news. Disney are actually really good at honoring things that were valid at the time of purchase. Yes, there are some exceptions, but I've booked a few things where the rules changed or parts of the package were removed after I'd booked, and they always gave them to me - I never even had to ask.

Did they confirm where the viewing spots are? They usually do. Although I am sure they won't move them until they have exhausted the list of those still qualifying to use them, I am on standby just in case. If anyone else gets different information about where to go, perhaps just post it so that we can check.

Epcot was definitely the Morocco Boat Dock.

I was a little less sure about the MK location... something about near the end of main street- landing plaza? Does that make sense to you, as you've been there before? (and if so, can you explain it properly to me please?!)

I was glad they were going to honour it- I was surprised the other day when she said they wouldn't, but our phone line was so bad I couldn't get into a long discussion about it.

She mentioned something about vouchers- do we get them in our Mickey Mail? :) DH wondered to me whether, as they're phasing it out, it might be quieter than it has been there. (When I called at the weekend, the fireworks reservation was on the phone menu, but it had gone today).

Yay well done! :)

Does anyone know how far in advance this can be booked - I don't go until the 27/09.

Thanks :)

Yes, Epcot is the Morocco boat landing. We've done in several times now and it's remained the same.

There was a map posted in response to a different question today elsewhere and I'm trying to find it as the best way to explain it is to show you. I forgot this is your first trip so explanations given thus far may not make as much sense was they would if you've been there.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/mk.htm Look on the map here. If you look at Main Street, just before the hub on your right hand side there are some umbrellas shown just beyond where the Plaza Restaurant is. There is a smoking sign there although it's not actually where the smoking area is. The left half of that seating area is roped off and that is where it has always been.

Just wondering if any-on has managed to book preferred viewings recently because it was on their original booking?

I had pretty much given up on doing this as I had read about the changes to FP+ but we paid our final balance last night (:cool1::cool1::cool1:) and when the invoice came through it still had the preferred viewings listed.

I tried phoning but was told they didn't do this any-more but just wondered if any-one had managed to persuade them to honour it recently?

although I haven't pushed it the letter received four weeks before travel with the coupon book clearly states that the preferred viewing is gone forever and replaced with fastpass+:sad2:

UPDATE

Our Mickey Mail arrived last week, with a note in the letter saying that Preferred Viewing areas have been closed, so that they would not be available to us...

This morning, a second letter from WDTC arrived to us, with a voucher for Preferred Viewing at Epcot ONLY. Not sure what the state of play will be when we get there, but we shall see!

Our mail didn't mention any of that! I'm going to show our confirmation number at the FP+ locations and see what happens.

As I got my final invoice only last week and it was still listed on there for both Wishes and IllumiNations, I phoned to see if there was anything they could do.

As expected they told me that the preferred viewings had indeed stopped and apologised that it was still listed. they did then ask me to give a choice of 2 days for each fireworks show and they would see what they could do.

I didn't hear anything back so assumed nothing could be done, but I just looked on my Disney experience FP+ list and they have added an additional FP+ for each fireworks show on my first choice days (so I have 4 on those 2 days) :cool1:
