Has much changed since Sept 2014?

We haven't been to Disney since Sept 2014 and are planning a trip for Oct 2016. Last time, there was a lot to think about when planning - getting everything linked on the website, learning how to use FP plus, figuring out how to work in Seven dwarfs, etc. Is there anything new we need to consider while planning?

That's about when Maelstrom closed and they still have not finished the frozen overlay.

The prices on everything!
I knew that one. Though I just had sticker shock today looking at MNSSHP prices compared to when we went so I have a feeling that we'll be skipping that this time. I had looked up hotels a few months ago and was shocked at the increase. Luckily, with a combo of points and a group rate, we found a way to stay at POR for half our trip. (Off-site for the rest).

Yep - we did Maelstrom but I knew they were closing it. My husband had fun asking CM's at Norway what they thought about it. (They were Disney polite but you could tell they didn't like the idea). Is there any word to when it will be open?

My only suggestion when your planning is to see what is closed in DHS and decide if you think it's a 1/2 day park, full day park or not at all. We went last November and planned a day only to see the Osborne lights for the last time. :sad1:

I made the mistake of making it a park day(we didn't have hoppers)and my son and I got bored in a few hours. TSM wait too long, neither he nor I do thrill rides so just a few things left for us. You may be completely different, but just something I'll put out there to think about. :wave2:

As mentioned, the prices went up...

- Hollywood studios has a lot of stuff closed but frozen has become star wars now so take some time to see what is there before you decide to go.. The new star wars fireworks (they did construction for it) starts in june so that will be new and I'm rather excited for it.
- the new TSMM track will be opened
- Animal Kingdom's new evening hours starts end of may, this will feature new lighting, a projected random mini-show on the tree of life (no scheduled times, it just happens here and there), some dance parties, and a new night safari with some nocturnal animals. There is a new theater in the "river" but the rivers of light show is broken so it didn't start yet but by october it may be started.
- ak: some menus revamped at various places
- ak: a new signature restaurant (and disney's first in this park)
- ak: I forget the name of it but a new little section of shops with some sweet shops amongst other things in the back corner.
- the new soarin' film will open with a third theater
- most of disney springs should be completed and opened with a lot of new shops, food, etc..
- they are starting to do little touches they never did around mk (main street vehicles out at different times all day long for example)..
- they keep adding all types of expensive temporary events you can buy tickets for.
- osbourne lights are gone.

hmm don't think I missed anything..

True, I've heard a lot is closed. We were planning on one day. We did 1.5 days last trip. But now that we may have to give up MNSSHP and have one less day for parks, it might end up a partial day. Star Tours, RRC, and TSM are must-do's for us. The Indiana Jones Stunt show is a favorite of my kids too. We'll have 5 park days if we don't do MNSSHP.

Thanks! I didn't know there was a new fireworks show. That will go on our list. We won't be doing any extra expensive events. We are doing this through a group and 5 day passes without the option to add on days were the most number of days we could get.

I'll have to look into AK to figure out if that's worth it. We just did a half-day at AK last trip and that worked out well.

We actually have been to Disney Springs more recently. We stopped by when we were doing Universal this past December.

Frozen overlay should be running sometime in June

People like to say a lot is closed, but in reality really the only closures at HS were two rides and a playground. Not that much...

there's a lot more than just that list.. your forgetting the work around muppets that started shortly before, there is also the food place in the back, there is no streets of america and it's street performances, lights action.. then we can go into the rides back in 2014 that closed early on for this..

I think it's fair to say look at what is there before you decide to go or skip... It's very worth it for a lot of peope, others may not see something they are into or want to do.
