Has free dining ever been offered around

dh would like to return during this time period, probably late Jan.-late Feb. BUT I'm pretty sure he'd like to have free dining too.

Just curious if it's ever been offered at that time of year and maybe we'll get some pixie dust around that time 2008 and we can return

From what I understand, free dining has been offered in August and September the last 2 years during hurricane season. I sure wish they would do it in January, too! That's when we like to go and you can bet we would be there!

Mid-February to Mid-April are peak season so I don't think they would offer it then.

I doubt you'll ever see free dining during that time. This past Aug-Sept was only the second time it was offered and both times were during that time period to bring in the guests during hurricane season. Also, in March you're really getting into the Spring Break crowd, so there's no need to beg for guests then.

I'd love to see it offered the week before US Thanksgiving, I'll be there Nov 14-23 of 08 (or somewhere around there) and then headed on a cruise.

We do NOT want to go during peak season.

But, January to early February might be nice, just after the first of the year...are crowds pretty much nonexistant after teh Holidays are over?

We could go without free dining...if I start saving NOW LOL!

We're DVC and staying at DVC on points, so we can buy DDP.

Can anyone buy DDP and any time?

I believe if you are renting points the owner can buy the DDP for you anytime. Otherwise to buy the DDP you must pay rack rate for your room and buy at least a one day MYW base ticket for everyone in the room. Free dining was offered Aug/Sept '05 and Aug/Sept '06 (free only during prime hurricane season in an effort to draw people in), but again you had to pay rack rate for the room and buy at least a one day MYW ticket.

For example last Sept ('05) we paid rack rate, bought MYW tickets (but didn't use mine due to me having an AP), and was able to get free dining. This past May we paid rack rate, bought MYW tickets again (using mine to renew my AP), and then paid for the dining plan. We were there last week for the free dining, but again had to pay rack rate for the room and buy a one day MYW ticket. I didn't use the ticket though, because I have the AP. I'm going back solo in Dec, so decided to use the AP discount for my room on that trip, but therefore am ineligible to purchase the dining for that trip. Make sense?
