Has Fantasmic Dessert Seating Changed in Recent Years?

I did the Fantasmic dessert seating in 2005 or 06 and we still had to get there really early to get a decent seat. There was a couple who came shortly before the show started and they had to sit behind us and they had a large pillar obstructing their view. They were so mad they got up and left before the show had finished.

While I was prepared and we got there early enough for decent seats, that memory has prevented me from getting the dessert seating a second time. It has been several years now so I'm wondering if anything has changed? Do you still need to show up quite early, and are some people going to have an obstructed view of the show?

Yes you still need to show up early. The seats depending on where they are can have some obstructions but mostly are pretty good. To some degree the CMs will let you move you chair around.

We just did this last night. For the 9pm show, we lined up at 7:30ish, checked in and picked our seat. Only one family was ahead of us and we got seats 1&2. We were dead center front row. We were able to leave after they checked us in at 8pm. We ran around for awhile, got our seat about 8:30 and had a great time.

So you checked in and then left? Did you get your seats first and just leave a coat on them or how did that work? If we could leave after checking in and still get decent seats that might persuade me to try it again...

You pick your seats when you check in. We went on the Haunted Mansion in between picking our seats and sitting down for the first show. I don't remember if they give you a ticket or just write your name down in their seating chart.

They write down on your ticket your seat #s and on their seating chart, they write down your names (last names).

Just so you know.. they start checking in for seats for both shows at the same time. We were in the 10:30pm show and I got in line at 6pm or 7pm and it was a long line. About a half an hour later, finally got our seats assigned, we were in the 3rd and 4th row.

We left and went on rides before coming back to see the show.
