Has everyone heard about the new princess?

I love this as well, and am happy to hear the story's setting will be in New Orleans. I wish they'd give some info on the storyline, though!

This is great! I have wondered if they would be adding an African American princess and I'm glad they did! :thumbsup2 (BTW, Dukland, your children are adorable!)

This makes me quite ecstatic!

I meditated on this subject a couple days ago, realizing that the Disney Princesses are made up of Blondes, Red-heads, and a Black-haired. All white. *

We've gotten to a point where this cannot be tolerated: besides, we haven't had a new princess in like, forever. (Kairi doesn't count as a new Disney Princess, KH fans... )

So, this makes me happy for many reasons:

a). More diversity in the Princess Line-up
b). A Princess story set in America
c). ^^ A Princess story set in New Orleans (my favorite land in DLR, and we all know that part of the country needs some Disney Magic)
d). A NEW PRINCESS! :woohoo:

*Alas, I was mistaken... Wikipedia has the official list of Disney Princesses (note how Maddy already has made the list):

- Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
- Cinderella (Cinderella)
- Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
- Princess Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
- Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
- Princess Jasmine (Aladdin)
- Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
- Mulan (Mulan)
- Princess Maddy (The Frog Princess)

And this is the quote that makes me the happiest:
John Musker and Ron Clements, who co-directed “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin” and “Hercules” will co-direct the movie. The pair also wrote the story for the film.

Which means... A GOOD OLD FASHIONED DISNEY MOVIE.

I was excited to see who the directors were, too, and the fact that they are doing hand-drawn animation, rather than using the computer. This movie should be very cool! And seeing as how New Orleans is already represented at Disneyland, I think it's very smart of them to set the movie there. I love that they are using the movie to give their own emotional boost to the real New Orleans.

Princess Jasmine (Aladdin)
- Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
- Mulan (Mulan)

To the poster who said the princess are all white. These 3 are not what you would call white, Jasmine is middle eastern, Pocahontas is a Native American Indian Princess, Mulan is a female turned warrior, and is Chinese. All in all you don't have all the princess as white a few are, but you also see other cultures in there, so not all of them are white. It is nice to see a new Princess movie just felt the need to clear up that not all of them are of white background. Heh just some imput no offense.

My DD is Black as well (she is Haitian so not exactly AA) We are very excited. Also that she is Creole! Very cool.

I am just uber happy that its going to be hand drawn... hopefully it will have good singable music too since the last couple have been lacking seriously good sountracks....:woohoo:

Thats the great thing about it being hand drawn though. Its like a trade mark. Disney should have one.

It sounds like a wonderful movie and I can't wait to see it. And Princess Maddy just sounds so approachable. I bet she's the cutest Princess of them all!

I love that! I am glad they are trying to include more cultures -- like Mulan, Pocohontas, and Jasmine -- and now African American. That's great news!:goodvibes
