Is it now true that you have to buy a mug and it is only good for the one cruise? I still have our mugs from our 2000 cruise, so I cannot bring them in April? Is that correct?

As far as I know, that's ALWAYS been true. The refillable mug program is $5/day.

Wow! I didn't know they had lifetime refillable mugs! We were on the Wonder in Jan '03 and I bought the refillable mugs for DD and myself. There was no mention of a lifetime option. I could easily be wrong about this-there was alot going on in my life then and my memory is fuzzy about details.

OK, I'll bite :duck: ......

I have read of those who were told at the resorts that their resort mug was good forever. I have not read (until now, you are the first to bring it up) about anyone being told that about the DCL mugs. They are priced alot higher than at the resorts to begin with, perhaps because you tend to be on the ship for more time than at your resort (where you spend most time at the parks). Unless you drink alot of soda, they aren't a good deal IMO. Free soda comes with all of your sit down meals, lemonaid is free all day. During the last year, different proceedure has been followed, like stickers or getting a disposable glass full which you then pour into your mug. I would think it would be embarrasing to show up with an old mug, just my two cents.

Neither DCL nor any of the resorts have *ever* offered a "Lifetime Refill Mug."

At the resorts we were told the refillable mug was good forever at that resort and we have always had them at the resort years after and they said, yes, they are lifetime refillable. Not on the ship though. I have soda mugs from CB and WL and no problem ever getting them refilled even 5 years later and I asked.

You were misinformed. Ask at any Disney Guest Service location and they will let you in on the correct policy. Any mug program purchased on WDW property (or at the Disneyland Resort for that matter) is a "LENGTH OF STAY". That means that the mug is good for unlimited refills for the length of your stay during which you purchased the mug.

Don't you think a "lifetime refillable mug" policy sounds a little odd? Any one individual Cast Member will not know all policy relating to every aspect of the operation of WDW. The mugs that you are using "5 years later" are no longer good for free refills.

The question was about mugs on DCL, where the policy has always been crystal clear. It's $5/day for the refillable mug program.

The question about refillable mugs at resorts is a lot more muddy with lots of inconsistent information given out by CM's. Perhaps we should stick to talking about the topic as it pertains to this board where there is really no debate.

I purchase the refillable mugs at wdw resorts every year. three circles is correct, they are length of stay only, not lifetime. I have a mug from five years ago also, but I would be embarrassed to use it since I know that each new visit to a WDW resort requires the purchase of a new mug. dont steal. buy a new mug my friend.

dont steal. buy a new mug my friend.

Pretty strong language if as the earlier poster said he asked and was told "Yes" he could use it. I know I was also told by a CM at the Caribbean Resort it could be used on return trips to that resort. I never bothered as the darn things are so big and bulky to pack but would have had I been driving as THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD BY a DISNEY employee.
Right, wrong or indifferent when you are told something by a Disney employee what are you supposed to do? Keep running around asking until you get a different answer?

Cheers, (using my old C.R. mug)

On past visits to POFQ and WL we were told that the mugs were good for any time you visit the same resort. We don't bother since it is a hassle to save them, pack them and carry them each time.
For the posters who know more than those of us who were told this by CMs in the resorts "Maybe you don't know everything".

While the signs in the food courts now state the mugs are only good for the current stay, in the past people have reported signs that said they were good for life(I personally never noticed , but people on the Dis here had pictures) and I was told by 2 different CMS at 2 different resorts they are good for life. Once we asked and once the CM offered the information on their own. Because of the conflicting info we emailed WDW. A woman from the executive offices called us back saying the "official official thing"(said sarcastically) is they are only good for that stay, however if a guest has a mug it will be refilled, no problem.
Basically it sounded like they really dont care...sort of like the driver going 2 miles over the speed limit is technically breaking the "rule", but is not going to be stopped and given a ticket. Since they get their fountain soda for next to nothing, I dont think its worth their time to police the situation. I think the people on these boards care a lot more about the mug policy than Disney does, LOL! ;)

As for the cruise, I believe those mugs have always been sold for that cruise only, hence the $5.00/day cost.

OUCH...sorry I started this. I was asking because years ago, when I first went to Disney, I purchased a mug at the resort and was told I could bring it back for future trips to THAT resort. And since there are other posters in this thread saying the same thing, thank you, I now know I am not losing my mind. Anyway, 3 years ago, when I purchased the DCL mug on the DC, I just ASSUMED the mugs had the same policy as the resorts. So, I would of packed my mugs on our next cruise, without embarrassment I might add. BUT, with the changes going on at the resorts, where some have switched over to length of stay, I thought I might ask if the DCL had the new mug policy. I was never aware that it never had a lifetime policy with the mugs. Thank you for clarifying.

Not really Our local places offer this and Chuck E Cheese's also offers this and it is only $3 so it is not that far fetched. I was told by several different cast members at several resorts including Beach Club Carribean Beach Corranado Springs and Port Orleans Riverside That they were refillable on every visit at THAT resort and its sister resorts only. However It was not worth the $10 to lug the cups backa nd forth and I enjoy the different mugs so I always buy a new one

All I know is that I still use my mugs almost everyday in my regular working life...thx to Disney for giving us the way to remember some amazing vacations in our regular lives.....one day i'm moving South!!!!!!!!!

How about the beer mug - can we bring that back??? ;)
