I've had one holiday dinner here (last year). I was very pleasantly surprised! I booked it for much the same reason as you. No other real options.
They set the buffet up a bit differently than they do during the rest of the year. The dessert side is given over to the special meats and dishes of the meal. Last year was a HUGE (almost frighteningly huge) side of beef and many other luscious selections. The usual non-seafood side continued with special holiday dishes. Turkey, stuffing, etc. The seafood side was the usual with clams and mussels, but if I recall the fish was more elegantly prepared. Recently, the clams and mussels of Cape May have a garlic butter drizzled over them in the serving dish. They are quite tasty this way. The last time I was there, (last weekend) the shrimp had been moved to the hot section! It's still the same spiced preparation and still peel and eat, but no longer cold. The desserts were set up at the entrance and featured pies and cakes heavily with some of the usual selections.
All in all I was very happy that we had dined there and would go again for a holiday meal.
