Has anyone used the shuttle service from Universal hotels to SW?

Just wondering. We are going and not planning on renting a car. We will be staying at either HRH or Portofino. I think there is a shuttle service. Not sure of any details.

There is a shuttle service, you have to go down to the concerige desk the day before to reserve a spot on the shuttle. They will not allow you to call and reserve a spot you have to do it in person. The week we were there the open spots by the time I got there to reserve were for later than we wanted so we just drove since we did have a car. I would also look into the cost of a cab if you dont' want to be stuck with the return times

We used the service from RPR - it was great going - just picked up at the front of the hotel - didn't get there before opening but it was close. Coming back though, the shuttle returned well before the park closed (we hadnt realised) - it was summer and there was a water show on the water - sorry dont know what it is (was) called - so we opted for a taxi back.

Thanks for this info. Is there only one departure time and one return time during the day, or do they offer shuttles at different times throughout the day?

Do you remember the approximate cost of the cab?

We used it once...hated it...took cabs from then on. Too crowded and too much of a hassle. for all 3 of our cab rides, we were able to share the cab. Not a bad deal at all, IMO.

We took cabs a few times to Sea World last summer from Hard Rock and the cost was aprrox. $20. We did take the shuttle one morning and didn't really like it because took quite a bit longer what with the wait for it then stopping at PBH. We also like to get to parks for opening and then leave mid-day and none of the shuttle times were convenient to us. If $ is really tight, it will do the job; but for convenience of travel times and less stress, a cab is the way to go.
