Our guide thinks we should try a 3 day cruise follwed by a 4 day land trip. He said since it is a first for us...a cruise....that we should try a 3 day first. We just became members this past week so we have 600 points right now and 300 more coming in Oct. Just curious as to what others have done. We would have to get two rooms on the ship...he said it is cheaper points wise to do that. He also said we might want to pay cash on 2 of the kids. Any advice would be appreciated. I could go a lifetime and never do a cruise....the kids would like to try it and so would dh. TIA

Yes, we have used points for a cruise, when we first bought in. When we bought in May of 2000 we were alotted points from that current year, as well as the upcoming points for Oct (our use year), since we vacationed in the February before, we just banked our points, borrowed from the following year, and booked a 4 night cruise and 3 night stay at our home resort of BW. We were never on a cruise before this but were very excited. My kids were 12at the time. We had an awesome time. We went on the Disney Wonder and the ship was gorgeous, the service amazing, the food delicious. I've since been on other cruises, and except for the absence of the casino, Disney was the best cruise I've been on. Especially the food, neither of the other two cruises I've been on compared to the food on the Disney ship, and the restaurants were beautiful. We had a great time, I would highly recommend it, and I'd love to do it again. Good luck in your choosing and planning, and have fun.

We are sorta in the "same boat" LOL. We bought 300..got those then we got300 in developer points and our Use Year is Oct. so we get another 300 in Oct. So our guide suggested this would be a perfect time to do the cruise. Thanks for the info.

We used points, too. Our first trip was the 4 night cruise, and the only thing we didn't like about it was it was TOO SHORT!!! This would be the perfect time to take one since you have all of those points. We get 250 per year, so we can really only go every 3-4 years. I'd do it in a heartbeat. We went on the 7 night western cruise in July and it was amazing! Next stop for us is the Eastern in a couple of years. It is just an amazing experience, and I'd do it every year if our points allowed it.

As you can see by my signature we've been on a few cruises with another booked. We've done 2 4-nighters and 1 7-night Western. We loved the Western but it's expensive. Personally I think a 3 night is too short. Whatever you do, you'll have a great time!

We too used some points from an add on for our first cruise. Some people say that using points on a cruise is not the best value, but I figure they are our points, we will use them how we want! We paid for part and used points for the other. Three nights is a great intro to cruising, but it is too short - they had to drag us off the boat!

Yes, I used points last Jan for a 4-night cruise. It was DH and myself. I didn't mind using the points since we got upgraded (nice surprise, when the ressie arrived) and I had the points.

I don't think I would do it again, but I don't regret doing it at all.
