on mypoints they have a program called bidcactus. you pay 75 cents a bid and you can win $100 gift cards for disny, southwest, and $50 gift cards for restaurants. anyone tried this? have you had any success?

I have not tried this but the catch is that you have to be the last person to bid. And its not just a mater of being there when the clock runs down. If someone makes a bid in the last few seconds the clock backs upp a bit. I once watched an auction go on for a few minutes with only seconds left on the clock. Two people kept bidding against each other. Basically it will wait till only one person is bidding for those last few seconds meaning either they gave upp, or ran out of bids. Each bid only raises it a penny or so, I would be worried about spending more on buying bids than what the product was worth.

I havent used that site but have used quibids and swoopo and had success with both.

You have to watch out many of the penny bidding sites arent the most reputable and have people who work for the company bid in order to keep certain items from being sold too cheaply.

These type of sites typically dont last long before they are shut down.

Please do research before using a penny-bidding websites. They are notrorious for using shill bidders. In other words, a bot is used to keep bidding beyond your bid. In essence making it impossible for you to win; yet still takeing your .75 bids along the way.

A good place to start research is ripoffreport.com, and look up bidcactus. This site convinced me NOT to use bidcactus.

Hope that helps.

I tried BidSauce (same thing, different site) out of curiousity using a link through MyPoints. Hoo boy, I have never seen $45 go away so fast!! :lmao: NEVER again... :scared1:

The concept is great, but the chances of winning an auction are slim to none. For my first auction I chose a $75 Walmart gift card. I figured that all I had to do was keep bidding within the last 10 seconds and I'd get it eventually. It just doesn't work that way. Once you've started bidding, each bid costs money and if you don't KEEP bidding, all you've put into it up to this point is wasted money. But everyone else feels the same way so the auction keeps going until you're out of bids or you've spent more than the dang thing is worth. Granted, if there are 10 people bidding, then you're only spending 1/10th of the total cost but these sites are cash cows for the owners and money pits for everyone else.

Run away. FAST. Looking back, I just laugh at myself and think "well, all righty then... that was a learning experience..." :rotfl:
