Hi all,
I was reading through Cheapskate monthly site (which was
reccomended on another thread) and it mentions stay at home
work doing surveys. They endorse several "pay to sign on sites"
It cost about $35.00 to sign up and then you do surveys that you
get paid for. One they list is" Expre $$ paid survey."

I have already signed on with Pinecone for free but so far have
been sent only one survey in 4 weeks. I would love to do this
more if these sites are legit but I don't want to waste $35.00

Anyone have any experience with them. Is it realistic that I could
earn $100 per week or so ?

My instinct is that it is NOT legit...or at least not in the way you think.

I could be wrong....but I have talked to several people through my business who have paid for a book of direct sales/home party plan businesses, when a free list is available online at dsa.org or just by doing an internet search.

You would probably find the same companies by searching through Google for paid survey sites.

I'm a big PINECONE fan as well, but that's the only site I like. Maybe one or two $5 surveys a month, though.

Here you go and it won't cost you a penny. This is a link to a thread on the rewards board.

Sign up for as many or as few, it's up to you. The more you sign up for the more chances of making some money. You may hear from a site once in a while or you may here from them a few times per month. Not all surveys will pay, some will enter you into drawings, sometime you may get to test a new product if you complete a screener and qulify. You just never know, but I would NEVER pay - usually you will get a list of companies just as the list you will find at the above thread (and they are all free). Have fun.

And not I don't think it's realistic to make $100 per week.

the only site I have personally used is FREE! It is Kidzeyes.com
and they send a monthly survey via e-mail to school age kids. It is legit and the emails are always directed to the parent. The questions they ask are about cereals, snacks, cartoons, characters, etc. Everything has been appropriate and they pay by points that you save in an account then redeem for a check that the mail to you. Each survey pays a different amount of points based on how long it will take. They range in 5 min. to 20 min and I always sit by my daughter when she does them. My daughter signed up last year and when I went to redeem her points after 10 months, she had $30 in her account. Not alot for adults but $30 for an 8 year old to spend anyway she wants to in WDW is good money! We received the check and cashed it with no strings attatched and we are still signed up and doing surveys for our next trip. My son can't wait until he learns how to read so he can earn some WDW spending money too! Good luck!

Thanks Buzzlady ,
I am reading about those sites now.
Anyone else out there with any experience in this?

I think the other posters are right, these scam places are nothing more than what you can find for free by going to the link a poster provided above. I have been making a part-time income doing surveys for many years now, most of mine are tech related and I get some huge payouts, our August trip was paid for by my survey $. All I did was sign up and made sure I did every survey sent to me, I think that triggers more surveys, I even do ones that only say it is for a drawing, I have won a few of those too, but i mainly do them to make sure I am staying on the "survey" lists. I think you get more if they know you are reliable, after all, they get paid to get the surveys done, so if you are reliable I think it increases your chances of getting more and $$$ surveys.

You won't make any money on these. Same thing about Mystery Shopping. It's not worth the time. Better off working at McDonalds.

I do use http://new3.mysurvey.com/default.cfm
After 4 months of taking surveys, I got a casserole carrier.
It's based on points and you can trade for cash, charity or prizes.

You won't get rich on them.

I have a question for the OP. What would you think if you went to get a job and the boss said he would hire you but first you had to pay him $500? Well, a survey site that asks you to pay before you can earn anything is just as crooked. Stay away. There are plenty of free places to earn money.

I posted this earlier, but I'll toss it in again. If you have AOL as your ISP, log on and go to keyword: opinion place. You can sign up to do surveys for up to $9/month credited toward your account. I signed up earlier this month and did a $3 survey. You can only do one every 2 weeks so I'm not yet eligible for another.

Thanks everyone,
I think your right, paying up front will just be a waste of money.
I thought this might be a possibility because it was on the cheapskate website (which has been around for a long time)
but they may just pay to advertize there.

I just found out that a consulting job that I have been doing for
about 16 years is ending and the $10,000. a year loss will hurt.

I didn't expect to make up anywhere close to that amount but thought maybe will the surveys and really cutting my budget
I could still get by but I guess I need to work on some other
ideas. (The cutting my budget was why I was reading through
cheapskate)

Anyway, thanks everyone for the information.

I tried my.surveys for a while. Its free, but I discovered that the rewards were not worth my time. They really expected a lot from you for a few points - I figured I would get $.50 an hour. Plus, you never knew if you'd get three surveys or ten surveys that week you'd qualify for.

If you have more time than money, and are really limited in your ability to get out of the house, than who will sneeze at an extra few dollars a year. I have more money than time and have better ways to turn a few dollars.
