Has anyone tried the WDW diet????

Checking in for the weekend...down 15.5 lbs :woohoo:...many, many more to go, but hey, you gotta start somewhere! Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Heym TS#1fan: I'm proud of you!!!!;) Alas, (who says alas?), I have gained a few pounds back. I am back on track now:duck: Hope to lose some more. Got a few months til November! Yea:banana: I mistakenly thought that eating those little mints didn't add up in calories. BIG mistake:scared1: I ate so many that I gained weight, and that takes a lot! Oh Boy, I guess it's fun to live in obliviousville:rolleyes1

DH and I will be going to WDW in November and of course I want to lose a few pounds (12) before we go. I always find I do eat better food in the summer, maybe it's all those fresh fruits and veggies and I can drop about 5-7 pounds without even trying but returning to my pasta and comfort food in the winter puts them back on.

Thankfully, I don't like a lot of junk food like poutine (disgusting), greasy fried chicken and loaded pizza (I'm a Margarita kind of girl) but lack of activity is my downfall. I walk a fair bit but it's never enough to trigger a weight loss. I have either maintained my weight or lost about 5 pounds every time we go to Disney. I do know that getting a pedometer helps me step count and pushes me to walk a little further in my day to day life.

Yea, Monaleigh, I usually drop 5# or nothing at WDW. I think I eat more because I think I will walk it off. Apparently not. But it's vacation, and I eat things I wouldn't at home, but have a blast doing it. So, what's wrong with that once a year????? I guess we shouldn't beat ourselves up for having fun on our vacations, and just do what we want:flower3:

This made me laugh-DH thought he would lose weight with all the walking so didn't watch what he ate (had TS 5 of 7 nights) and gained 5#! I did what it seems others have been doing: stepping up physical activity in months prior to trip. Thankfully no joint issues so just started using stairs at work. Nine flights of stairs at least 3 times a day for three x week (work part time). Much harder than I thought it would be at first but now can do it without stopping. Dropped 12#- and lost a few inches off bottom half- which meant some clothes from a couple summers ago fit again.

It is a good idea to take measurements as well (hip, waist , thighs, arms) and if you do weight training remember that the muscle you build weighs more than the fat it replace- so numbers on scale slow going down but you still lose inches:) Bonus: muscle is where calories are burned too. Keep up the motivating stories ladies!

Hi all! I got sick about 2 years ago and since that time have gained quite a bit of weight. Starting to feel better and better everyday. I started Weight Watchers about a month ago and have lost 12lb so far. I also recently started using Leslie Sansone "Walk at Home" DVDs. There are also a lot of her walks on YouTube. I like them a lot. She's motivating and very positive.

I really hope to shed more pounds by the time our trip rolls around in December. It'd be awesome to get around more easily. I'm worried about staying on track with all the yummy food EVERYWHERE in "the world" though. I am thinking about making an eating plan ahead of time and trying to follow it as close as possible.

Good luck everyone!! I hope you all reach your goals!

Hi WDW pirates: I know what you mean by gaining weight due to illness. I was put on prednisone for several months!!! and gained a lot. It's taken a lot of time to get rid of that too, so I know what you are going through. Hang in there, cut yourself some slack while at Disney.:goodvibes It is your vacation so allow yourself to indulge some! Hope all goes well:cheer2:

Ugh....prednisone is rough for sure. Definitely going to treat myself at WDW...just can't go overboard! All I keep thinking is: nutella waffle, carrot cake cookie, dole whip, cookie ice cream sammie...you get the idea!!

My DH and I have started taking walks to sort of prepare ourselves, but I think we need to step it up! I don't really care if I lose or gain while actually at the parks, but it would be very nice to lose some of this excess baggage beforehand. My knees will thank me for sure.

I started walking, while listening to podcasts on all things Disney, to prepare for our trip next month. I completely cut wheat out of my diet bc it was giving me neuralgia (nerve pain) in my feet. I haven't lost much weight, six lbs maybe, but I got to where I was walking 4 miles in 95 degree heat at a 20 minute per mile pace 4 days per week! I felt so confident and strong, especially since I, too, generally lead a more sedentary lifestyle.
Unfortunately now with 30 days until my trip I am laid up with an injured ankle. I think it is tendonitis but will confirm as soon as the doc can see me. Not really sure what this means for my Disney vacation!

Congrats to everyone working to feel better! Using Disney as motivation makes everything easier! Good luck to everyone and keep it up!

I'm in a simliar boat where I'm trying to lose a certain amount before my next trip in May. So far I've lost 16lbs with my trusty Fitbit & recently adding weight training 3x per week. I'm really hoping I will start to see steady weight loss soon. I'm overall losing, but I could lose 1-2lbs 1 week, & then the next I'm up 3. I know I just need to be patient, but it is difficult.

If anyone is interested in getting together to support each other in this journey, I've created a new post exactly for this here. Hope to see you there!

Yes, Cynister, I know what you mean. I try and try but do the same thing: ie: lose some weight, then gain it back later, then down again. I've started not using the scale every week, it's too depressing:( I think doing exercise builds muscle, which weighs more. So if we exercise we are getting smaller and firmer. I will try the new thread. see ya there:)

Actually weights are the reason why I'm losing weight now. For almost a year I had been doing a walking program through work. Every day I would walk a minimum of 5 miles. I've continued to do that today too. I try to get at least 2-3 miles in with vigorous walking. I plateaued for months after a 10 lbs loss & just didn't seem to be losing more. This was highly frustrating since I was walking my butt off, sweating up a storm, & pushing up to 8 miles a day. I happened to be going for a physical in May & told my doctor what I had been doing since she was so happy about the 10lbs loss. She then told me if I were to add in weight training exercises just 3x per week for 30 minutes I'd see a greater loss. The combination of cardio & weight bearing exercise is what burns the most fat. I am not a gym person by any means, but her feedback was so positive I figured I'd give it a shot. I joined a gym that was running a $10 a month special figuring if I couldn't convince myself to keep going regularly then at least I wasn't out a lot of money.

I've been going for almost 3 months now & I've lost another 6lbs. The weights are definitely the reason. From what I understand, the human body naturally burns more calories each day to maintain a pound of muscle than it does to maintain a pound of fat. Therefore, the more muscle you build, the more calories your body will naturally burn each day at rest. So while muscle may weigh more, at the end of the day having more of it helps you burn more fat off.

I really hope to see you & everyone else that is planning a 2015 trip on the other thread I started. It would be great to share our stories along the way!

I've been on a diet for almost a year. Slowly losing weight so that I can keep it off. Down 25lbs!! Two big motivations - Disney and photos at Disney. We went in July and according to my Fitbit walked an average of 8 miles per day. Best advice is to stick to it. If you can't pack a healthier snack for the parks, there are plenty options available. One of my favorites snacks at AK was the packaged grapes and cheese at one of the kiosk. But don't forget to splurge a little now and then.
