Has anyone tried the Pal Mickey?

We rented Pal Mickey last time we were down and finally bought him at the World of Disney store in NYC a few weeks ago. Does he pick up more jokes when he's in the park because it seems like he doesn't have as many as he did in the park?

So that my 2 kids would not bicker about who he belongs to, I bought him for ME! I also bought one of the straps they sell for soda bottles and wrapped the strap around Mickey's neck and then wore him around my neck. Worked perfectly! He really was a lot of fun, we passed him around and all enjoyed him!

We rented Pal Mickey in MGM (you "purchase" him and then when you return, they credit your card) and returned him at the Cinema on Main Street in MK.

Hate to be the voice of dissent, but he gets a negative vote from us. Glad he was a rental. Maybe my anticipation of getting him led to a little disappointment. My suggestion would be to get him at the place where he can be rented so you can return him if you want.

What did you not like about him? I'm trying to decide whether we should get him for our trip.

DH and I purchased one on our trip (10/08-10/15) and we really enjoyed him - we don't have any children so it was just us sharing him. He was really cute and had all kinds of little tidbits and jokes to tell. He will be returning with us again next year for sure.

If he starts to get a little annoying, you can always turn him off for awhile.

We love our pal mickey....we took off the clip and tied him to the strap of our backpack, this way we could hear what he was saying and feel the vibration.

If you'll notice, virtually every other post on this thread RAVES about how much fun and enjoyable Pal Mickey is... but you only chose to ask about one of the ONLY negative comments.

I find this to be a very human trait, to focus on the negative (or the "fear factor").

Its the way I look at an eBay member's "Feedback" profile... maybe its 99% Positive with 100 transactions... but I'll SEARCH for that one negative response before I'll bid... its NUTS!

So... maybe take some more time and re-read all the positives on this thread and feel assured that if you are a "Disneyphile" (like most posters here) there's a good chance you'll really ENJOY Pal Mickey.

My DW and I (in our 50's, and no kids) love ours, and he's made several fun trips with us. (She even made some custom outfits and hats for him, and we get lots of comments from the CM's about that.)

We ALWAYS carry him in WDW... I "wear" him hanging on my shirt collar(!)... and we get a kick out of the clever and (sometimes) quite unexpected things he says.

They claim he doesn't speak INSIDE attractions... but as you approach the Ballroom scene inside HM... wait, I'll let YOU find out :earseek:

We got a Pal Mickey and it was a lot of fun. He tells cute jokes, tells you when parades or shows were about to start, made funny comments especially on Tower of Terror, you can play games and he kept our daughter who was 2 at the time occupied. If you didn't hear him you can squeeze his stomach and he will repeat what he said. He would come on as we passed certain buildings on Main Street and give little bits of info on them. He would aslo tell us that we should go to Pirates because there was no line. He came with a clip and he didn't get in the way at all. He fit in the bag we brought to the park so it didn't bother us to carry him around. I think I've read posts where people suggest putting a lanard strap around him to carry him as well.

My 3 year old still plays with him at home. She likes listening to him tell jokes and she actually takes him to bed every night instead of a doll. It was worth it for us.

Somewhere, a few days ago, i read a post about a discouted way to get pal mickey. Anyone know how to do that. Thanks in advance for the help.

I bought a PM from e-bay for $40. Brand new. I got it for my daughter for Christmas. But for now, he is in my office at work so I can test him out. ;)

You can order Pal Mickey from one of the Disney outlets at:
phone #954-846-7161..price $27.99
shipping ups ground $10.99

I ordered mine last week and received it pretty quickly!

What age would you think would be too old for one? I read some posts where adults have them, but my girls are 13,13 and 10. I don't want them to feel embarrased by having it, you know? I guess I could get it for myself and put it on my backpack....
