Has anyone took cereal bars?

We are thinking about taking cereal bars for our DS (yep you guessed it a picky eater)he eats cereal dry and drinks milk but take his time with it!!We wondered if it will be ok to take our own still sealed un our suitcases. Has anyone else done it if so how did customs react ?

No need - they are readily available in all the supermarkets. Our DD loves them and we bought them for her all the time!

we take them with us as our youngest DS will only eat certain ones so its just easier to take his with us and then we buy an assortment of them for us (DH, other DS and me, we have done this for several years now and it has been fine, and it also guarantees that he will at least eat something.

But the forms that you fill out on the plane actually ask if you are bringing any food into the USA and I dont know if cereal bars are a problem item that are not permitted, whether they are in your suitcase or not.

I would double check with your airline. As said before there are loads of similar types in America, you might even find that there are some that you like more

I'm gonna check the TSA site and see if it mentions cereals or not

I took a whole load of stuff to NY with me and my suitcase got lost then searched by customs but they didn't remove any of my stuff. I just make sure things are well packed. Though I do like the granola bars they have in the states.

We took packets of biscuits and sweets on our last trip and we were fine.

We took cereal bars in our hand luggage and we told the man at the customs check point and he said that they were fine.

It's good to know that you all had good responses from customs, I cannot find anything on the C&I site about cereal just fruit veg and meat I guess we can take some cereal bars in the suitcase
