Off-site hotel help please now that EE will be gone

Has anyone else noticed price increases for off-site hotels since this announcement? I searched all of our standard hotels we stay at for our week in January and holy moly they are way more expensive than normal. I ended up booking the Fairfield instead of our normal hotels because of how much more they were than normal. Could it really be this fast that they raised prices or just a fluke? I normally would have booked a refundable rate long ago but was certain we'd be at the GC this January so I'm mad at myself for not overpreparing.

I just checked the rate at Tropicana. It's the same as when I booked a month ago.

Okay, so hear me out.... I've always been an across-the-street peep. "Shortest walk possible, perfect for mid-day breaks," all the normal reasons.

Then, on a whim, I tried Majestic Gardens. Game changer. Rooms are huge. The grounds are beautiful. Lots of green areas. If you don't go to the parks on your arrival or departure date, there's several places to hang out at hotel. No parking lot pool (it's in it's own dedicated area). Interior hallways. And CHEAP. I typically pay about $140 a night. My next stay is around $120 a night. What about the walk? I walk out of the parks to the bus area, where you'd pick up the city bus or the Disney parking lot busses, and get on the private shuttle back to the hotel. I take a short ride to the hotel, then have a 5-minute walk to my room. When I google-mapped it, I was walking less than I would to get to my prior go-to of Desert Inn and Suites. I've stayed at several Harbor motels (Grand Legacy, Desert Inn and Suites, Tropicana, Fairfield), and Majestic Gardens is nicer than all of them.... for $50+ less a night.
I am a Desert Inn and suites so I decided to look into your suggestion. They will only allow bookings till December (looking for next summer) and they only have 2 queens, so not big enough rooms. It's an interesting option for smaller families but not so much if you need at least 2 queens and a pullout.

What week in January are you looking at?

18 to the 24th. It includes Presidents day so I already knew it would be more expensive but man it is way more than even normal. What is weird the first half is less than the second half of the trip. I feel like I know something is going on that last weekend but can't put my finger on it.

Well I’ve just gone and booked Park Vue Inn, after years of staying on site. Losing EE was too much for me to justify the huge difference in price. From just under 5k at GCH to just over 1k at Park Vue Inn, for 4 nights.
It was a no brainer now. I think Disneyland hotels will really take a hit on occupancy rates, from people like me who are sick of loosing all the perks that went with the huge price tag.
