Has anyone tasted the Mac and Cheese they are serving at WDW restaurants?

To answer the question from a few posts back, YES the mac-n-cheese at Liberty Tree Tavern is the Stouffers kind!! And you can have as much as you want, as the meal is family style!

My DD is a mac n cheese snob. She refuses to eat the boxed kind. Only Stouffers for her.

I was thinking that Stouffers was what they served, but I guess not, huh? :sad1:

My son is the same way!! I know they serve it at Liberty Tavern!!

My nieces took one bite of the mac and cheese from Chef Mickeys and would not eat anymore, they said it was terrible.

Now give me that mac and cheese from Chefs De France and I am a happy girl

I could go for some of that right now-even though its still breakfast time. :yay:

Just great :( Both my kids love Mac and cheese...and we have ADR's at Tony's and neither kid will eat spagetti but I saw they had mac/cheese so I thought that would cut it--I guess not!

Funny---we ate at Sunshine Seasons on Friday and DD always gets the mac and cheese. She refused to eat it and said it was gross. I didn't believe her (come on, we go every other weekend at the least, and she'd had the exact same mac a little over a month ago). I tasted it and it was nasty with a capital "N". It tastes more artificial...and in a really bad way. DD is fine with out of the blue box artificial and she also likes the homemade variety...but this had some strange wang to it. It's the only way I can describe it and I write food blogs!!

Now, the mac 'n cheese they sell as an entree at Chefs de France, with cream and gruyere cheese, all baked to golden perfection... that's another story! That was delicious. :worship:

I'm going to try this. I always avoid Macaroni and cheese everywhere because I grew up eating white mac 'n' cheese, not yellow stuff. In our family we make it with Swiss cheese, not cheddar, not American, and definitely not Velveeta (which has a shelf life of about 3 millenia). The pics I see here look pretty much like what I'm used to eating-can't wait to try it.

I hope everyone is complaining in writing (email) to Disney's guest communications!!

You can email wdw.guest.communications@disney.com

I read that Disney has gone "healthier" their buns, and mac and cheese - I'll bet they are using whole wheat pasta, and low fat cheese!

Bring back Stoeffers indeed!!

Forget about the kids! What about me! I am a Mac and Cheese expert - and I agree, the Disney Mac and Cheese is lacking.

But, I have a theory. The mac and cheese needs to have the ability to sit and stay warm, and still have the same "taste". All the Kraft experts out there should know that Kraft starts to get yucky after it's been sitting in the pot for more than 30 minutes. I think that Disney's recipe is catered to the "longevity" of the mac and cheese versus the "taste".

They probably assume that kids will eat anything. :confused3

Having Mac and Cheese today for lunch!!! DS is at Grandmas - so I have it all to myself! :lmao:

My kids think it's gross, too. Too much "cheese" sauce and mushy pasta. Even worse is the mac n cheese they try to serve kids on DCL! My kids order from the regular menu instead.

I think it's unanimous.:confused3

I tried the Mac n Cheese at the Coral Reef and it was really bad. I also tried it at Raglan Road as one of the bar snacks and it was delicious.

If they changed it since Jan, I sure hope they bring the old stuff back. The mac and cheese was something I knew the kids would like.

I think they served Stouffers at the Liberty Tree Tavern Buffet at the Magic Kingdom. I do remember seeing a menu there with various Thanksgiving type items like Mac and cheese stuffing carved turkey. Can anyone chime in on this one?

We have an ADR at Liberty Tree our first night. I knew I'd read that mac n cheese was Stouffers. I thought I'd read that the other restaurants served Stouffers as well, but I guess not, or at least not anymore. When we were there last year, DD had it off the Cape May buffet and it looked like Stouffers. She ate it. I guess I'll have to steer her away from it anywhere but LTT.

one of those travel chanel specials showed how they decided on the recipe. they had a bunch of kids try a bunch of recipes and they decided on the one they serve, at least according to the program.

I saw that show too! WDW used to have real mac and cheese and it was good!

Now most places it's pretty bad - having travelled with a child.

The one place that still had real mac and cheese was Cali Grill, and that was last year. Even most CS places had bad mac and cheese - at least the ones we tried.

Could this be another fault of DDP? I mean the kids' DDP is only ten dollars a day. that doesn't leave much room for great ingredients.

Maybe the stuff they serve is a product of the new healthy food plan? Lower in bad fats than the real mac and cheese they used to have (real cheese, real butter, real cream).

MY DD wouldn't eat the Mac & Cheese either. Those kids meals are so unappetizing.

I read recently on another web site that they did change the Mac and cheese to make it low fat. I am all for eating healthy but it doesn't sound like the new version is very good. I will steer my kids away from it on our next trip.

My DD8 is actually happy when it's Kraft. She has been in a macaroni and cheese phase lately and as soon as it comes to the table if it's Kraft she will pronounce that it's Kraft and happily eat it. Any other kind she doesn't like. Kids. But honestly if she will eat it I would rather pay for Kraft so she eats dinner and I can enjoy mine, than pay for the real stuff that she won't touch.

IMO all WDW food is marginal at best.

ITA, especially with all of these generic foods that you see everywhere. The mac, hot dog rolls and coffee are an exception, they're actually more like disgusting at best.

You know the routine. Children's meals if mac and cheese is available they serve that on the menu or you can always find it available on the buffet at the various restaurants around WDW.

HAVE YOU TASTED IT RECENTLY?

I did and I understood why my daughter (who is a mac and cheese addict,) turned her nose up at it. It was terrible. It tasted like cardboard because the cheese was not real.

What in the heck is going on? Maybe I have not tasted it in years, but I know it didn't taste the way it did when I was there a week ago. I tasted it at 1900Park Fare as well as the ESPN Zone this year.

Anyone else have the same thoughts on this?
My boys ate it. They said why don't they get Kraft or Stouffers. I agree. At least 99.9% of the kids had them both and like that. Instead of trying to make there own up.
