You know the routine. Children's meals if mac and cheese is available they serve that on the menu or you can always find it available on the buffet at the various restaurants around WDW.

HAVE YOU TASTED IT RECENTLY?

I did and I understood why my daughter (who is a mac and cheese addict,) turned her nose up at it. It was terrible. It tasted like cardboard because the cheese was not real.

What in the heck is going on? Maybe I have not tasted it in years, but I know it didn't taste the way it did when I was there a week ago. I tasted it at 1900Park Fare as well as the ESPN Zone this year.

Anyone else have the same thoughts on this?

one of those travel chanel specials showed how they decided on the recipe. they had a bunch of kids try a bunch of recipes and they decided on the one they serve, at least according to the program.
my daughter is also a mac and cheese officianado...and she wont eat it either. its tough to make it like mom...i mean seriously opening that blue box takes a lot of work:rotfl2: .
but seriously they need to start serving kraft, ive worked for many restaurants and they all serve kraft..WDW needs to get on the boat!!

Its definitely not very good. In recent trips my kids wouldn't touch the stuff. On occasion I'd have some too and well, not anymore. Its icky! They need to go back to their old recipe.

Same here!!! My kids LOVE mac and cheese and they won't touch the mac and cheese at Disney.

They need to alter their recipe again!!;)

We noticed this when we were there in June. They definitely changed the recipe. My son is very picky and this was pretty much the only thing that he would eat when we were there in December. He wouldn't touch the stuff this last time!!!!!! I tasted it and agreed...NASTY, NASTY, NASTY!!!!!!!!!! :scared: They need to change it back!!!!!!!!!

Well, my kids, who are apparently cheese gurus..said the NACHO cheese for the chips and whatnot was horrible. I tasted it and it tasted like plastic.
We tried the mac and cheese and the counter service place in frontier land, I think..by the mansion..not great, kids said it was better than the other cheese, but still not great. I mean, they have stouffers as a sponsor around there, what about THEIR mac and cheese. Would Kraft be out of the question?

For what one pays for it, it should be freash made with real cheese and should not come from a box.

being kraft does not automatically make it from a box. the kraft mac and cheese we serve at my restaurant does not come from a box.

This thread is to funny:lmao:
Just yesterday in the car my DD's and I were talking about the CS location we were going to eat at for our upcoming trip. We just got back in May from our last visit. I told DD that we were going to skip the mac n cheese at all the CS locations because it was disgusting to say the least. I can't tell you how many tables I have walked by with mac n cheese sitting on a kids plate uneaten.
FWIW- When we were at the Backlot express DD had spilled he appasause everywher. We went up and asked for something to clean the table up with. they sent someone over to our table to clean it up. The CM had notice that DD hadn't eaten any of her Mac n cheese and asked her why. She told him that she didn't like the taste. He offered to get her something eles before we left but she wasn't to hungry so we passed but it was a nice gesture.

My DD is a mac n cheese snob. She refuses to eat the boxed kind. Only Stouffers for her.

I was thinking that Stouffers was what they served, but I guess not, huh? :sad1:

I saw this and wondered were they found the kids that liked the mac n cheese recipe! My kids live on mac n cheese and they wouldn't touch it at WDW.

I think they served Stouffers at the Liberty Tree Tavern Buffet at the Magic Kingdom. I do remember seeing a menu there with various Thanksgiving type items like Mac and cheese stuffing carved turkey. Can anyone chime in on this one?

Once is always enough for my kids who normally would wolf down mac and cheese at every meal..

That show was filmed in like 2004. Very little of that content is still accurate.

DS LOVES mac & cheese and has eaten it in many, many places around WDW. If they have changed it he will know immediately. He will not be pleased. If he will eat something else it might be a change for the better, but if he eats nothing then I will not be very happy!

I'm a mac 'n cheese lover myself, and I tried it some of it that they had on the children's buffet section of Crystal Palace for dinner in May. To me, it's hard to screw up something like mac 'n cheese. I love the Kraft kind, the Velveeta... I prefer homemade, but I'm not picky. But I took all of two small bites of that stuff at CP, and it was just nasty! It was quite obviously not real cheese; the best way I can think to describe it is a pseudo-cheese slimy sauce that made me nauseous. It amazes me that Disney could think the vast majority of guests would like that stuff. It was just plain gross. :scared:

Now, the mac 'n cheese they sell as an entree at Chefs de France, with cream and gruyere cheese, all baked to golden perfection... that's another story! That was delicious. :worship:

I saw that tv special too, and thought, "Wow! What a Disney thing to do! Having a mac n cheese taste test for kids." I've never tasted it myself, but it appears things have changed since that show aired. I wonder why. It would serve them well to either go back to the old recipe or conduct a new taste test.

Yeah, I think about 5 or 6 years ago the mac and cheese was great, then somebody had the brilliant idea to change it all. :sad2:
