Just got my cabin on the Aug Repo cruise and much to my surprise it is one of the handicap cabins #6500 - I would love to know if anyone has stayed in this cabin. It is the first one at the bow of the ship and appears to be wider and not as long as the other cat 8 cabins. I so wanted to be able to picture me in my room but now have no layout for this one. At least we know where we are now!

We stayed either in 6500 or 6000 on the wonder. They are both the same. It had a king size bed. Large bath but not a split and no bath tub. It had a lot of room to move about in. It was a great room. I do nt have a picture for you but it seems larger then the others just because there is no couch in it. It was nice!

Thanks for the information from the #6500 on the Wonder - I called Disney to see if they had a floor plan and to ask what is in the room other than a couch for sitting. I stumped them in customer service and they are now calling the ship and will call me back - Now that is great service! :bounce:
I'd still love to hear from someone who has stayed in this room on the Magic and how they feel it compared to the regular category 8s. We should be able to see where we are going way up at the front of the ship!

I stayed in 6500 with my 12 yr. old son who has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair. It was great for him. Plenty of room for turning wheelchair, automatic door (regular door would have been to heavy for him), nice accessible bathroom (completely tiled with handheld shower, no bathtub or lip in shower, flip down seat, several handrails). It should suit your needs. We tried for several years to go on the cruise before we snagged an accessible room - they were always booked. We even considered making do with a regular room, but now am so glad we didn't. You will need the extra space for wheelchair, walker, other special equipment, etc. We separated the bed into 2 twins. It also had a large porthole. Hope this answers your question.

Oops, has one straight backed chair at desk and one stuffed chair with ottoman.

I guess I didn't make my thread very clear. We were assigned room 6500 but do not require the handicap accessability. TCM's information was great, especially about the chair, but there is no way to see a floor plan of this room, and I would love to know how the bed is situated etc. I'd love to know if I will be rocking side to side or head to foot. I think we will love the big shower. Bottom line if you have had this room please post what you see when you enter the room. Like head of bed to the left, across from the vanity - bathroom on the rt or lft as you enter room - chair by window. It's so exciting to have a room # but then frustrating when you can't see a diagram of it. I'm a planner and this is killing me! Thanks. :confused3

We got upgraded from a Cat 11 to this room on our very 1st cruise a couple of years ago, even though we were not handicapped. We loved it- It was so big! That's what got us hooked on Disney cruising. Our 3rd cruise we actually requested it and got it again.

As you walk in the door to your left is the closet and to the right is the bathroom wall. Further on to your left is the desk, vanity and tv. Further to your right is the bed against the wall and the bathroom door is right next to it. As you lay in bed you are facing the forward part of the ship. The bathroom is to your left and the porthole and steamer trunk is to your right. There is a chair next to the tv. You will love the big bathroom. It is very quiet since it's the last room on that deck and there is no stateroom on the other side - just some kind of storage room, I believe. There was only one thing wrong with this room - no one could see our great stateroom door decorations, since it was the last one down the hall!!

Have a great time!

That is exactly the info I was looking for. It does look like it will be completely quiet. You are funny about the door decorations. I understand if there is motion on the ship when you are closer to the bow it is more an up and down so I guess your feet go up - head goes down etc. Am I crazy or what? My bed in Cat 11 in Jan faced sideways toward the bow, but room was in the center of the ship. I'm sure it doesn't matter. Can you turn the chair to sit and watch TV?

Yes, you can swivel the chair. I also moved it in front of the porthole to sit and look out with my binoculars from time to time.
