Has anyone stayed for a month?

Last Jan. and Feb. we stayed at VB for 9 days and then moved to WDW for 2 weeks at SSR and 2 weeks at OKW. All of this was in an inn room and studios. Yes, we did most of our cooking in the room. We worked out in the fitness room each morning,. did a lot of walking on the beach and at WDW and did use the parks for entertainment. We did not get bored. This coming Feb. we are staying in a studio at SSR for the entire month and then going over to VB for 8 days in a inn room. It may seems like indoor camping, but it sure beats the WI. cold winters.:cool1:

Caskbill......what did you do with the RV during the week when you were at DVC resorts? Is there an overflow lot at Ft Wilderness where you can leave it if you're not staying there? This sounds like a great idea for future use.....I'm retired and DH will be retiring in about 4 1/2 years.....we don't have an RV, but, I would like to start looking at them....don't know if DH will go for it though......he always says they're too confining and he feels claustrophobic.

We would love to go for a whole month. That sounds like heaven. (And I wouldn't mind eating out every night!)

For most of our trips we have done 9 days/ 8 nights. And we spend most of that time in the parks. It would be nice to be there a little longer and spend more time sitting by the pool. We always say that on the next trip we will do some down time, but we always end up squeezing in more and more park time.

For the past few years, I have stayed at the BWV for 30-34 nights. (Retired... :thumbsup2 ) I was in a studio, but I was solo for a good part of the trip. I don't cook at home, so I had no need for a stove. I did miss the washer/dryer, however.

I'd start out doing the parks commando-style, then settle in after a visit to each. My days then became more relaxing, as I'd go to a park for what I call a "targeted strike", going on a few specific rides or just for lunch. Then, I'd head back to my room for a bit or go to the pool bar. ;) For dinner, I'd either dine out at a TS restaurant or I'd eat in my room, depending upon my plans for the night. (I'd get groceries from Goodings or WinnDixie.) I like to swim when it's quiet (6 or 7 am), so I'd hit the pool once in awhile, enjoying the serenity of early morning. Being close to Epcot was a huge plus, as a nice, leisurely stroll in the evening is a pleasure. :cloud9:

DH visited for a week, when he could get away. Other family or friends would also be there from time to time.

I find these extended trips to be very relaxing. There's time to poke along, if I'm in the mood. No rushing. Some days I'd have no plans at all and would go to the bus stop, getting on whichever bus came first. :)

I take shorter trips in Oct and Dec, but I always look forward to my extended trips. Next one coming up! Jan 5! :cool1:

My MIL stayed at VB for a month last year. We live in the area and she wanted to start coming down to visit at least once or twice a year. We priced out condos in the area and discovered it was cheaper to just buy more points and have her stay at the Disney resort.

It was great. She settled in really quickly and she didn't have any complaints. She was in an ocean view inn room.

My wife and I typically stay at Disney for around thirty days each trip, which we take three years out of five.

We run our own business so are our own bosses, so have no-one to tell us when or when not to take our vacations. We also tend to work about six and a half days a week, without a break.

Because we live in England, we have to book flights well in advance and travel costs are a significant part of our vacation costs.

When we first bought into DVC, we bought enough points for three weeks studio every year, but then fell in love with the one-bed unit. (hence we only come three years out of five).

We always visit after labor day, when the parks are a little quieter, alternating between September & October to get two vacations out of each annual pass.

We mostly like to chill out, because we don't have to go around the parks commando-style. If we miss something - there's always next year.

We both love to cook and make good use of our kitchen, eating out perhaps two or three nights each week. I usually bring a selection of spices with me and like to think my villa serves the best Indian food on site. We don't have the stamina to eat in a restaurant every day.

My wife loves to relax by the pool and spends most of her vacation at the Boardwalk quiet pool reading novels, with occasional forays into Epcot for Food & Wine events.

I can't sit still, so I spend two or three hours each day, after a late start, in one of the parks or touring another hotel. I am 'disabled' and bring my power wheelchair. I don't go on many rides because transferring is a problem for me, but having wheelchair transport to take me everywhere on site to explore is a great pleasure. Just 'hanging out' is my main activity.

I met a couple of Disers a few years ago who stay 5-6 weeks in the winter at OKW. I wish I could remember their screen names. Anyway, they stay on Miller's Road in a studio, and sometimes a 2 BR when their daughter comes with the kids. They definitely seemed like they were running the show at the Miller's Road quiet pool-- very nice people-- and very TAN! They are my vacation idols...

some people in europe stay about a month. europe gets a lot more vacation days than the united states.

Well, we have the points to do so and I could possibly take the entire month of August as vacation since the University where is work is essentially closed for the month. However, unless I can find an awesome sitter for my fur-baby, I don't see it happening. If only I could beam my Mother to Boston from Pittsburgh...

Our next trip is for 19 days this nov/dec. We`re splitting it between 4 DVC resorts, we travel very light.
We did consider a months stay, however I don`t want to leave a year before our next visit so we have 10 days planned for next may.

The Miller Road Gang rules at OKW!!!! Yes, road tripper is right - we stay fro six weeks, from the middle of March until May 1 - and then home to Michigan. And thank you Road Tripper for saying we were nice, - not everyone thinks so - - and tan - - that part is true - - and yes, our daughter and every friend she has ever met comes to stay for three out of the six weeks. We try and have two weeks alone in the beginning - - three weeks of invasion - kids, parents, strange food - all of that organic stuff - and then one very quiet, peaceful week along again before heading home. Can't wait - - and this year - the enitre Miller Road Gang is going to the Hoop Dee Doo - - last year it was EMH at the MK - - what a hoot - but, I think I'm getting to old to stay out until 3am.

See you in OKW - we arrive March 16th!!! Six Weeks!!!!!

The Miller Road Gang! I've heard of you! :thumbsup2 When we checked into OKW last time, I asked if anyone stays for the winter, and the CM mentioned a fun family from Michigan that stays for 6 weeks. She must have been talking about you! :goodvibes

That's our dream, too. I would love to stay in a 1 bedroom OKW villa for 6 weeks every year... :cloud9: It would be hard to leave!

So far, our longest trip has been for 17 days. That was wonderful! It's very hard now with school - I've got one in Jr. High, one in HS, and one in college. :headache: Getting everyone's work & school schedules to perfectly align is almost impossible. But I don't give up! :thumbsup2

Good morning Mlill - - - - Here's the bad news - - we have only been able to do this since the college tuition was paid off!!! School schedules were the bane of my life. It is not hard to leave OKW after six weeks, because just about that time the humidity kicks in - and off we go to Northern Michigan where we live in the #1 summer tourist destination - - no humidity!!

Hang in there - before you know it the kids will be out of school and you can become one of the Miller Road Gang!! Oh, you can be part of it anyway - most of the gang still have children in school and can only be there for about two weeks - - - - come join us!!

OK everyone! You are corrupting me! :lmao: My normal WDW trips are 8-12 days but you really have me thinking about doing a longer trip one of these days.

Hi a Brit DVCer here! We visit WDW every two years and regularly stay 4 or 5 weeks. It is fantastic. We never tire of things to do. We have family in the States and different members come down to Fl to meet us an spend some time. It is great. We love FLorida and especially WDW:love:

I don't think I'd be happy staying at WDW for a full month. There's just too much commotion to really relax, and frankly too much temptation to spend a lot of money. Now I'd be thrilled to spend a month in a VBR Beach Cottage. That would be heaven on earth. :thumbsup2

Hi Ducklite - - - loved your signature and wanted to say - we just adopted a "loser" - A Walker Coonhound - she was a reject for hunting - can't stand to hear the screen door slam shut. She has spent seven months in the Humane Society - for me, it was love at first site. We have never had a hound as a family pet - we have really missed out all these years. Jesse is one of the best dogs ever - - - - - - so - another "loser" has found a home for life - - with lots of hugs and treats - she is in heaven - or at least she thinks so!!!

Don't tell - - but there really isn't any commotion at OKW or SSR - - everyone is at the parks - it is like having a private resort!!

:thumbsup2 Isn't it funny the little quirks they have? Mine goes crazy when he hears the car keys jingle. He can be sound asleep, and if I pick up my pocketbook to move it that little jingle of the car keys sends him screaming to the door to the garage!

Well, you hear people coming and going, the resorts are large so there are always people around. We were just at VBR for a week in a beach cottage and it was devine! TOTAL privacy! You look out onto nothing but the ocean, you hear nobody, it's amazing. We were there the second week of September, and I don't think the resort was half full, so even the common areas were empty.

Your description of VB is my description of home - - - we live on Lake Michigan and for 10 months of the year - it is mine and mine alone - well almost!! I love the pool at OKW - the quiet pool that is - no music - no people and I am a very sound sleeper - - so I never, ever hear them rushing to the buses in the morning and by the time they come back around 4-5 - I am happy to give them the pool and move on to other things - I love the quiet walks around the resort - - my daily bike rides - etc. etc etc. and it is warm in March - not so on Lake Michigan!!

I have always wanted to stay a month or more, The most I have stayed is 8 Days, But I am going twice for 7 days in the next 2 months, so thats better lol. I def will stay a month in the future!:cloud9: :cloud9:
