I was wondering if anyone had stayed at the Marriott Orlando World Center recently? My family was looking at it as an option, but were concerned with it not being in the park and how convenient it would be. We do not plan to visit anything else besides Disney World during our trip.

I haven't stayed there, we live in Kissimmee, but my girlfriend works at the World Center. It's very close to WDW. It's not a close to DTD as the hotels along there but closer than any of the International Drive resorts or hotels on 192 near world drive.

It's a great hotel as well. great pool, and you can't beat a starbucks in your hotel lobby :D

good golf course to.

DTD = Down Town Disney

World Center is beautiful place to stay. The pool is fabulous, grounds beautiful, food is ok (have foodcourt by pool), great service, great rooms, and they run great specials too ! It is really close to WDW. Right on the other side of I-4 on 192. It's about a hop, skip, and jump to PopCentury. It is a great option if not staying on site. But, have to admit, there is no beating the convenience of staying onsite for the transportation if you will be going for a few days ! It is much easier to hop a bus then wait for parking, catching the tram from the parking lot to the TTC, then the monorail or ferry to MK. That seems like an all day event to us now. One or 2 days off site is ok, but any longer and it pegs our fun meter !:scared1:

Duh, I should have guessed. We are also looking into Old Key West.

Thanks for the advice on the transportation. We are planning to take 3 kids and 2 grandparents, so any delays in getting to the parks will just amplify any fits that may arise.

If you can...DEFINITELY stay onsite then. 3 kids and 2 grandparents in tow will cause total exhaustion/frustration by the time you even get to the gate ! The trek to/from the parking lots adds a lot of time onto the day....and if you go in the summer it is like crossing the Sahara !! :laughing:

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott World Center in February 2007 for 10days. The beds were the best I have ever slept in. We left there and stayed at the Gaylord for the rest of our stay and we both wished we were back at the Marriott. We rented a car and the drive to WDW was great. I would definately stay there again.
