I going in oct. and going to be staying at the SSV and want to know more about the resort. ::MinnieMo

I would suggest checking on the DVC boards here, there is always tons of info about Saratoga Springs. Or, you could search and find a lot.

We were there for 4 nights last August. We stayed in a 1 bedroom that had an awesome view of DTD. The kids(DS11 & DS9) loved the High Rock Springs pool and had fun in the arcade. We went to the Magic Kingdom, MGM & Epcot all via the busses and never had a problem. We never waited for a bus out of SSR for more than 15 minutes and they were never crowded. We both walked and took the bus to DTD and enjoyed both. The construction was a non-issue. You could see it but I never heard anything. We were able to watch the fireworks from DTD from our balcony but we didn't hear them the night we went to bed before the fireworks started.

We ate at AP a couple of times and enjoyed the food. We're pretty flexible with meals so it was not a big deal that there is no "real" sit down type of restaurant.

We enjoyed our stay and love the resort. It will be beautiful once it is complete. We have a 1 bedroom booked for 5 nights for the end of July 05 and we have a Grand Villa booked for 8 nights the end of March 06.

We found the 1 bedroom to be plenty big for the 4 of us. The boys were very comfortable on the pull out sofa. Eventually we will probably upgrade to a 2 bedroom once the boys are full blown teenagers. :earseek:

I hope this helps

thank you, I´m really looking forward because is a new resort. Is my first time in a villa, 2BR, and I think I´m going to like it better than a normal individual room.

Your going to love the 2 bdrm. The regular hotel rooms can't even compare to the villa's. My sister and I just had this very conversation. She met us last August and I booked them (sis, neice, mom & dad) in a one bedroom at OKW. She fell in love with the whole DVC concept and purchased a contract a few months ago. She is also going down with us in July. We were talking about how "spoiled" we are now with the villa's and we'd never want to go to WDW and stay in a regular room. I can't wait to spend 8 night in the Grand Villa (There will be 9 of us this time with DH's family)

that is very nice...it´s great to read positive opinions about SSR, I´ve been reading in other post, not such good things, like alot of parkinglot views and that is very far away from everything and difficult to go to DD, and that they don´t recieve you and help with luggage. But I already booked this villa so I guess the only thing left is to enjoy.

Everybody has their own personal tastes. We just bought into it in April and are excited about our first trip home. My DH is handicapped so we are excited that we can get the car closer to the hotel room door.
While AKL was beautiful, he still had a long way too go to get to the room after getting out of the busses! If he's having a bad day we can always drive and pull close to the room. :cool1:

So enjoy! You are at Disney World while the rest of us are at work!! :flower: :flower:

SSR is not our favorite DVC resort (OKW will always hold that spot :goodvibes ) but it is very pretty. We stayed there last August. Our one-bedroom villa was in Congress Park and we had a great view of the DTD area. The villa was very nicely decorated. The restaurant is nothing to write home about IMHO (limited menu), but DTD is a quick walk away – about 5 minutes. We used our community pool, not the main one, and had a great time. Only a couple of buildings were open during our stay, so the resort was not crowded. Bus service was fine. There was a lot of construction going on; I’m sure once the resort is complete, the ambience will be lovely. I understand that some new plantings were lost during Hurricane Charley (which occurred a day after our departure), but I’m sure that has been rectified. The proximity to DTD is a big draw here.

The great thing about DVC is that you have a number of different resorts to choose from. Everybody has different tastes and what one person dislikes another person loves. When I'm on vacation, I try not to let the little things get to me. We'd be happy at any of the DVC resorts, afterall, we're at Disney World. They are all beautiful in their own unique ways. When I'm on vacation, I'm on vacation. I'll have enough to worry and fret about when I get home and am back in the "real world"!!

So, enjoy your trip. Enjoy all the beauty that Disney as a whole has to offer. Most importantly, just have FUN!!

We were there last August also, which was our first experience with DVC. We stayed in a 1BR, and after our first day there, it was unanimous that we'll never stay in a hotel room again! It's just so nice to have the room to spread out, and the kitchen to cook some meals in. We walked to DTD a couple of times, enjoyed the main pool one evening, but didn't eat at AP. We loved having our own "stretch limos" coming back from the parks during the day, and only once waited for any length of time for a bus to come (turns out, there was a bus that broke down just before entering SSR, so they had to dispatch another one). I can't wait to go back and see all the changes/additions. (Beccasmom, we were there at the same time, we also left the night before Charley hit. My gang was disappointed in our "bad timing")

Stayed at SSR last Feb. It's not our favorite resort. The 1 BR was nice, had a good view. The resort is rather spread out. Almost too far to walk up to the main pool, community area & lobby. Also, there was no way to get to the pool for our building except to go all the way around the building on either side-no cut through within the length of the building. There were no luggage carts to take your stuff from the car to the unit, so we had to make several trips to unload.
On the upside, it was a nice walk to Downtown Disney (of course it was February, not July). The spa was a wonderful experience. I recommend it highly. Don't let the prices scare you away. It's worth every penny! With any service you have access to the whirlpool, steamroom and sauna facility, so bring your swimsuit unless you prefer to go au natural.
It's always personal preference that rules, and many posts indicate pure pleasure at SSR. So go with an open mind. Give us a report after your trip.
