Has anyone stayed at Island Links resort HHI through RCI? Or seen this resort?

We are looking at staying a few nights at HHI when we go to AL and FL to visit family. Of course I could not book anything at HHI because we didn't know dates far enough in advance. This is the only place available. We could stay for 4 nights Sunday through Thursday for 128 points. Just curious if anyone has stayed there or even seen it/heard about it. Thanks!!! I have not stayed there. But, if you are seriously considering an exchange via RCI, it would be well worth joining TUG (www.tug2.net). They have a fairly extensive review database, and I have found the $15 cost to be well worth it.

We just returned Saturday from Hilton Head and had 31 people in our group. One of our resorts was a Reba managed resort - Coral Reef. It was very, very nice. Before picking Coral Reef, I investigated staying at Island Links and almost picked that one except a 3 bedroom came up at the other one and tipped the scales. Island Links is close to the Westin resort (and Marriott's Barony Beach resort). Island Links offers beach and fitness room access at the Westin hotel.

We had Hilton Head units at Royal Dunes, Reba's Coral Reef, Disney's Hilton Head resort, Waterside by Spinnaker, Marriott's Harbour Pointe, and Village at Palmetto Dunes - and every resort was excellent. Island Links is in Port Royal plantation.

Oh thanks for the info. So...is it within walking distance from Island Links to the Westin and Marriott??

Yes, it's within walking distance. It's about 0.8 miles between them. They run a shuttle in the in-season months, too. There's lots of bike trails - so you could easily ride or walk. Some in our group rented bikes - cost was about $18.00 a week and the bike companies deliver and pick up the bikes.

My sister stayed at Royal Dunes and it's close to Island Links, too. It's also back in Port Royal Plantation. It's a beautiful area.

Island Links has two pools. One is rectangular and the other is a large free form zero entry pool with several huge umbrellas providing shade for you while you are in the water.

We have stayed at Island Links three times.

If you travel light, you can bike to the beach easily. I always have too much to carry, so we drive and park at the underground garage at the Westin.

Island Links is well- maintained.

We've stayed there using RCI points. It's nice enough but the location isn't much to speak of near the Port Royal entrance. I think it's part of the Coral system as well. One word of caution if anyone is looking at the 3 BR units there, there are not full 3 BR but more like 2 1/2 BR. There are other resorts I'd consider ahead of this resort due to location.

I actually think Coral resorts ended up putting us in a 3 bedroom cottage in the Spinnaker cottage section of Shipyard (apparently they have bought some of Spinnaker's cottages). It was a fantastic two level unit - had a front porch and a back porch on a quiet culdesac within walking distance of a pool.

Dean - I don't know much about RCI points. Does the points availability change frequently for Hilton Head (or for that matter other areas?) Also, are there RCI 1 in 4 restrictions with points for DVC members? I know the week exchanges/Extra Vacations we did at Waterside and Coral Reef had 1 in 4 restrictions.

So if a DVC member calls Member Services and there is RCI points availability then they can book it? I take it with points there is no waitlist - you book it if it's showing available?

Well when I called back the next day.... the nights were gone. SO I have been calling every day a couple of times a day to see if anything on HHI has opened up.

To the person who stayed here - do you know if they provided a shuttle to the beach and were there any amenities at the beach (restroom/ lockers /etc?) Also, we have 2 bikes thru hilton head bicycles - did you use these and were they in good repair? Just any tips would be great

We never made arrangements for the free bikes (it was too rainy). But the company was a legitimate company so I'm sure they would have been fine. If I remember correctly, the check-in papers said we had beach access and facilities at the Crown Plaza. But we had family spread all over Hilton Head at various resorts and ended up walking to the public beach access (which had showers/bathrooms) from Waterside by Spinnaker resort which was very close to Coral Resorts.
